I woke up. The morning dawn prickled my skin, and I yawned. Opening the door, I walked outside, smiling. “A new day.” I muttered. Hopefully today will be better than yesterday.. I hoped, then shaking the thought away. One day…the city people would see me, Riley, for ME. Not some person who was trying to hurt them. I walked around then hopped up a hill. I sat on top and closed my eyes, taking in the fresh air. I opened them, and gazed out dreamily into the distance, looking at the bustling city. I climbed down, ready to go back to my little shack. Before I knew it, I smelled ash. I blinked rapidly and ran up the hill again and down, getting closer to the city. The smell was getting stronger. Before long, I was in the city, hidden amongst the other people. I glanced at a window, and saw a fire emerging. I adjusted my gear, and started to climb the building. Eyes were on me, everywhere. THAT’s the girl in the woods? What’s she gonna do to those poor people? I grumbled. Why did they always have to assume I was bad? I never laid so much as a finger on any of them. Before long, I broke in the window. The owner of the house awoke, eyes widening after seeing me. “Please, spare me and my family! Don’t hurt us!” he cried. I rolled my eyes. “Look mister, I’m here to get out that fire, nothing more.” I said, and threw some water on the blazing fire. The man stared at me, my gear, and me again. “T-Thank you miss..” he stammered. “It was nothing.” I said with a smile, and walked out the door this time.

The next day, I had visitors. People were apologizing for the way they treated me, and it was great. For once, I had a nice day. Curse those rumors. I finally overcame them.
