What if different Sonic characters (except for Sonic himself) were echo fighters of other characters in the Smash roster?

Knuckles = Little Mac or DK

Amy = King Dedede

i think amy would work better as ice climbers, but with like just one and a little stronger, because king dedede is way too big and heavy. knuckles works pretty well over little mac but it would be kinda weird since knuckles can glide in the air and little mac has like no aerial movement at all. another one that could be cool would maybe be robotnik over king k rool

Knuckles is definitely not big enough to be an echo of Donkey Kong. But considering each fighter's moveset, it still works. Maybe Mii Brawler is a better fit. You're right about how Amy could be one stronger Ice Climber because King Dedede would be too big. Who else has a hammer for a main weapon, though?

That is not how Echo Fighters work. Echos have to have to be about the same size and shape as the original fighter! You can't make Knuckles and Amy echos of characters that are much larger than themselves.

If this weren't the case, Pichu would be a Pikachu echo.

We're not really considering which fighters they would be echos of, more like considering which fighters they would be most similar to. For example, Knuckles and Little Mac both attack using punches and Amy and King Dedede both use hammers as their main weapon. Besides, they aren't even from the same game.
