Should Religion/Beliefs Regarding Gods Be Brought Up On Scratch?
Wondering what everyone's opinions on the matter are.
At the moment, religion is brought up a lot, especially when regarding homosexuals. I see at least one ‘sign if you love Jesus’ project daily, Gay supporting studios get flamed all the time because of beliefs and the sort of stuff gets thinking how the community would react to a ‘sign if you believe in Buddha’ project, considering the community is mostly Christians/Catholics.
This concept got me thinking even further, and I am now wondering if religions should be brought up, since I know it can be a little threatening seeing a lot of people who do not believe in your beliefs.
It's a touchy subject, I know. But it has to be brought up.
What's your opinion on the matter? I'm curious.

Should Religion/Beliefs Regarding Gods Be Brought Up On Scratch?
I think it can be brought up, but only if you talk carefully about it and don't put your own opinion/religion as the “only true” one. As long as you don't fight over religion and don't provocate someone and don't try to force someone to believe in what you believe, religions is a very interesting subject in my opinion, which I love to learn about.

Should Religion/Beliefs Regarding Gods Be Brought Up On Scratch?
Here's what Lightnin wrote in a forum post last year:

Of course, the question is where to draw the line as to what counts as proselytizing and what does not. It's fine to make a project sharing about your faith, as long as it meets the Scratch community guidelines. It's disrespectful to try to change other's beliefs about their faith, or say that your belief about faith is the only acceptable one. Scratch is not the place to proselytize.
It's also not ok for people to make comments about anyone else's faith that are disrespectful, or otherwise break the community guidelines (if you see any of these, please flag them!)
These guidelines have served us pretty well over the years.

IMO, sign if you believe is fine, but saying ‘if you don’t, come to the comments and we'll welcome you' is not.
And homosexual studio is way out of the question. The ability to be yourself overrides other people's personal beliefs.

IMO, I think it should be avoided at times as it can flare up arguments and hurt people's feelings

People are allowed to express their personal beliefs, as long as they are respectful and don't use scratch to proselytize(convert others). However, I do think that websites made specifically for debates are best for discussing and debating religion.

Should Religion/Beliefs Regarding Gods Be Brought Up On Scratch?
Heh, this is why I prefer posting questions like this on the forums and not in projects.
I got some really well-thought out replies, and I do agree with the opinion of, as long as it's not disrespectful.
It's still interesting that Religious extremism actually happens on this site, even though it's supposed to be family friendly. Thank goodness for the report button though eh?
Without it this place would be a nightmare.

Christians get flamed too…(coming from someone who got flamed). I do have one of those sign if you believe in Jesus projects…Also you are contradicting yourself when you say religion should not be mentioned but mention it anyway. Wondering what everyone's opinions on the matter are.

Well, I myself am a Christian, and as people of this earth, its our job to spread God's word. Also, you can clearly see in the scratch guide lines that it says “Scratch welcomes people of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities.” See the word “Religions”? Scratch welcomes all religions, so I don't think its right to say we should not be allowed to show our Christianity.

Try not to mention it too much.
But if you have to, just state the facts and don't try to make people change to your beliefs.

I don't mind debates, to be honest, as I'm always curious to know other people's opinions, but the other day, I found a message saying really mean stuff about gays, which is really unfair. That shouldn't be allowed.

There's a very large difference between saying that you're religious and telling people to join your religion. You're welcome to say that you're religion X, but you can't tell everyone else to join religion X.Wondering what everyone's opinions on the matter are.

I would say that it can be brought up, but just be careful:
“I'm a Christian/Jew/Muslim” etc. would be fine. Also talking openly about your religion and other religions is okay. Do not be close-minded - not allowed.
“Please become Christian/Jew/Muslim” etc. would not.
“My religion is the only religion! Join it or die!” is definitely not okay.
