“Listen up everybody!” A brown-skinned, hazel-eyed protector called, addressing the crowd. “The Four Gems are about to be revealed to you all! Once it is revealed, line up if you want to take it in turns looking at the gems! Please do not go past the barriers, though! And now…The moment you’ve all been waiting for…”
“I can’t wait, I can’t wait!” Pearl muttered under her breath, as the four sisters stared at the big glass case covered in a thick grey cloth.
“Three, two, one…Here are the four treasured gems!” The two burly security men whipped off the grey cloth, and the four sisters feasted their eyes on…
“WHAT!?” Screamed one of the protectors, for in front of him was an empty glass cabinet.
The four gems had been stolen.


“Someone stole the four gems!”
“IMPOSSIBLE”
“What happened to the gemstones!?”
“This ISN’T good!”
“OH MY GOSH, WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!”
There was an uproar in Skylark Hall as everyone panicked and worried about the missing gemstones.
“THIS IS BARBARIC, TOTALLY BARBARIC!!” Shouted one of the protectors. He swung round to Alfie the security man angrily. “HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN!?”
“I, um, I..” Stammered Alfie nervously.
“BEN!” Shouted the protector, staring coldly at the other security man. ‘WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GEMS!?”
“What could’ve happened to them!” Cried Mrs May worriedly.
“I don’t know!” Exclaimed Emerald.
“Um, guys…I need to tell you something…” Ruby began but was suddenly interrupted when all the lights in the hall switched off. Everyone gasped and panicked as they groped around in the dark, trying to find the switches.
“WHAT’S GOING ON!?” Shouted the voice of the same protector who got angry at the security men, who’s name was Aaron.
“Greetings, everyone!” Bellowed a woman’s voice.
A blazing blue light lit up, and up above their heads, the crowd saw a woman glowing with blue light and floating in the air! She had a black cloak, but the hood was pulled back, and floating around her were the four gems that protected the world!
Ruby realised in horror that her suspicions were true: The black-cloaked figure she kept seeing had stolen the four gems!
“GIVE US BACK THOSE GEMS!!” Roared the hazel-eyed protector whose name was Susan.
“Of course not, Susan, they’re mine, so why should I!?” Snapped the woman.
“THEY’RE NOT YOURS!! Shouted another protector whose name was Jesse. “And NEVER EVER will be, HAND THEM OVER!”
The woman grinned evilly. She had white skin and perfect red lips, an evil smile and long pitch-black hair that went down to her heels, which was glowing more than any other part of her, for it was her hair that enabled her to float.
“Dear, sweet protectors, they may have been yours..” Began the woman, catching the gemstones in her hand. “But…THEY’RE MINE NOW AND WILL BE FOREVER!”
The woman shot a blinding beam which flooded the whole of Skylark Hall! Cries of alarm were heard all around the four sisters as they plunged into a blast of unbearable light. One after the other people were disappearing before the woman’s eyes, and she grinned with glee.
“MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!” Cackled the woman when the light cleared. “I’M INVINCI- WHAT!?” The woman stopped abruptly when she saw Emerald, Pearl, Ruby and Amethyst still standing there, dazed. “YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DISAPPEAR LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!”
The four sisters stared around in horror when they realised everyone had disappeared except them!
“What are you talking about!?” Yelled Emerald, her expression turning from surprise to scorn. “What have you done with our parents and everyone else you fool!?”
“They’re gone, FOREVER! You’re NEVER getting them back!” Laughed the woman.
“Who do you think you are!?” Shouted Pearl. “Making everyone disappear like that, WHAT do you want from us!!?”
“I don’t want anything from YOU, silly girls!” Snapped the woman. “I want the four gems, and that’s all! And with them, I WILL RULE THE WORLD!! NOBODY WILL STOP JUNIPER THE GREAT!!” The woman let out a cackled that echoed throughout the hall.
“BUT, what I DO want from you is the powers that you have!”
“We have no power!” Cried Ruby, exasperated. “Do we?”
“And even if we did, we would NEVER give it to you!” Frowned Emerald.
“Of COURSE you wouldn’t!” Retorted Juniper angrily. “Any villain like me knows THAT! But that’s why..I'M GOING TO TAKE IT MYSELF!”
Juniper shot a beam from her palms at Ruby with all her force. “RUBY!!” Screamed Emerald, Amethyst and Pearl in unison.
Emerald shot out her hand, and to everyone’s astonishment, including her own, a bright green blast shot out of her palm and deflected the beam, and it came sailing back towards Juniper!
“YOU LIARS!” She shouted, breaking the beam that was flying back towards her. “I’m going to DESTROY YOU ALL!!”
The four sisters stared at each other with astonishment, before pulling themselves together and glaring fiercely at Juniper. There was no time to be baffled right now!
Juniper shot a beam, but before it could hit the sisters, Pearl unexpectedly made a forcefield around them, and the beam bounced back. The sisters gaped at Pearl as Juniper cried out with rage.
“I didn’t know I could do it, I just had the feeling I had the power to!” Pearl grinned, before shutting off her forcefield.
“YOU SILLY GIRLS!!” Juniper screamed, stomping in mid-air and throwing a tantrum like a toddler.
Juniper raised chunks of the ground up, and the chunks separated the four!
Suddenly, Amethyst had a picture in front of her of a chunk flying toward Emerald without her noticing.
“EMERALD, JUMP LEFT!” Amethyst shouted.
And just in time, too. The chunk of the floor came shooting past Emerald’s head as she jumped left, and she landed on another one of the floating blocks.
“ARGH! You think you’re too good, BUT I’M WAY MORE POWERFUL!” Juniper swung her arms out, and a giant ripple of magic shot at the four sisters, shoving them off the blocks and making them sail to the floor.
“HANG IN THERE!” Shouted Pearl. She dived down and grabbed her sisters, floating in the air.
“YOU CAN FLY!?” Cried Ruby, and Pearl winked at her.
Juniper shot a bunch of beams at the sisters, but they all dodged, except Ruby, who got hit by one!
“RUBY!!” Screamed Emerald, as Ruby crashed down onto the floor, lying unconscious. “THAT DOES IT!”
Emerald leapt up and smashed her fists into the ground. The whole hall shook fiercely, and Juniper lost her balance, falling down to the floor and dropping the four precious gems.
“NO!”
“Amethyst, Pearl, the gemstones!”
“I’m on it!” Cried Amethyst.
“OH NO YOU DON’T!” Shouted Juniper, leaping to get the gems. But, fortunately, Amethyst was too fast for her, for she teleported right to them and snatched them up in her hands.
“Got them! OOF!” Grunted Amethyst, as Juniper punched her in the chest and sent her flying backwards, losing her grip on the gemstones.
Juniper grabbed them and laughed, as Amethyst smashed into Emerald, and then into Pearl and they fell sprawling on the floor.
“I told you you can’t defeat me!” Cried Juniper with glee. Behind Juniper, though, Ruby had regained consciousness.
“Wait!” Ruby heard in her mind, and she jumped out of her skin. She stared at Emerald and smiled, realising the sisters could speak telepathically. “When I say now, do your thing!”
Ruby nodded at Emerald and prepared to shoot Juniper.
“You’re just four silly little girls, you can’t do anything to stop me, nor can those protectors! I’m invincible, I’m powerful, NOBODY CAN DEFEAT ME!”
“NOW!” Emerald yelled.
Juniper swung round and screamed, as Ruby shot Juniper with a bright red blast. Juniper shot backwards, but froze herself in mid-air and was floating again, still clutching the four gemstones.
“That didn’t do anything, did it?” Grinned Juniper. “Too bad!”
Juniper cast a beam on Ruby and cackled, as Ruby disappeared before the sisters’ eyes!
“RUBY!” Shrieked Amethyst.
“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO RUBY!?” Screamed Pearl.
“You don’t need to know!” Replied Juniper.
“You won’t get away with this! The protectors will stop you!!” Emerald shouted.
“Where are they then, huh?”
Emerald glared at Juniper, for she had no answer to that.
“I am invincible, and you’ll NEVER DEFEAT ME!” And with one last cackle, Juniper disappeared.
“Oh, Ruby!” Pearl whispered. “Where are you..”
