The way Scratch Projects are sorted doesn't make any sense...

Today, I want to tell you why a major part of Scratch is broken, and it has to do with how projects are sorted in Search Results.
So, when a project is posted, it's pretty far down in the Search Results. To bring it up, people have to like it. To do that, they have to find it. To find it, it has to be up in the Search Results. This means that New Scratchers, even if their projects are amazing, they might not get the attention that they deserve. Sure, they could post it in Show and Tell, but I'm not sure how many people actually check that.

Please rethink the way projects are sorted, and I have a few ideas:
  • Cycling through search results so that you can request to look at the least popular projects.
  • If you have any more ideas, tell me and I'll add them here.

I think the current way they are sorted in search is fine, however I would like this option in the filter by dropdown.

I think part of the problem is that if an inappropriate project is posted by someone, then if it is near the top of the search results, then it is more likely to be seen by a kid who doesn't have the attention span to find it anyway.

We have to either use the Show and Tell forum or advertise in our signature… (Commenting on someone's projects and comments might not get you likes, depending on if Scratchers allow it, and it is 100% likely that some of them don't, unless it's very unpopular and almost no one sees it.)

I am officially reopening my account. I decided this is the best way to go.

How many people check the Show & Tell forum, and how many New Scratchers know how to change their signature?

You can also add your project to a popular studio.

But having an option to see the most ‘unpopular’ projects first will still be good. It can reduce much time to find some projects.

You mean like a YouTube type dropdown? So like a “Most recent” “Oldest” “Most popular” type thing? Support! It would be very useful and they already have a recent project section so obviously they're not against it.

If someone really wants to look at unpopular projects then they have the option to look at Newest Projects which is usually filled with 3-block projects made by someone who joined 7 days ago.

But I do suggest that they change the way things are sorted because I keep getting Art in my Music section, Music in my Games section and Games in my Art section.

Same. I don't know if the project makers put the wrong tags in, but I keep getting arts when I search for tutorials.
