It's really not that hard to confirm your email. There's no reason to be “mad” over that.

There are millions of people under age of 13. So Scratch might not be a COPPA website, but an 8 and up website.

Every site that's going to collect information from children under 13, especially knowingly, are required to abide by COPPA's regulations. Not doing so can result in severe legal penalties.

Could you elaborate on this a bit more? I'm doubting because there seems to be numerous Scratchers who are able to do such things while still having the email verification.
You did mention it was “painful to confirm”. What about it is painful to you? Does it relate to parental consent, or perhaps do you not have a valid email address? Is there any way to improve on the current system without having to remove this necessary function?

The Scratch Team is not trying to ruin our Scratch experience.

In particular, read @DownsGameClub's post here and @AFNNetworkK12's post here. (didn't want to quote; doing so would overfill my post)

While it may be inconvenient to have to confirm your email, please remember that removing it will do more harm than good. Legal issues, angry parents, spam and ‘troll accounts’ would skyrocket.
Would you rather remove a simple confirmation that takes under a minute to complete and have Scratch face severe consequences that will sabotage its reputation as a safe and friendly children's programming website?
