The search function is currently non-functional so i don't know if this is a duplicate. If it is then i apologize.

I understand that the Discuss tab is no longer omnipresent at the top of the screen, so (while i'd disagree) i would understand not getting any forum notifications at all. However, I've been receiving notifications (messages? what are they called exactly) for new posts under the thread i created in New Scratchers. That makes perfect sense. I've noticed the ‘follow discussion’ button as well.

I've been quoted a good few times and have yet to get notified for any of them. I only see them when i happen to come across them. It would make sense for me to be notified when uh, someone is replying directly to me, no? Hitting the aforementioned Follow Discussion button on many one-off question posts seems inconvenient, since i'd get notified for everything rather than just my own post.

While i'm here i guess i'll ask - i've noticed we have the ability to tag people (@Ceoreparque.) Are we sent a notification when we're tagged on the forums, or is that also something that's missing? edit: i mean i saw someone tag themselves in a post once, many times over. did they underline it? have i been bamboozled

A notification for getting quoted is a good idea. Support.

Not completely. My suggestion was to be notified whenever quoted, period. His would be another option for following a post.
