Math is useful for a lot of things, but advanced math like factoring trinomials is stupid

So, did you define a monoid on the set {Math, Brain, 0}? Also, since Math and Brain appear to be inverses, maybe you want a group. Math haters owned le algebraic style!

Seriously, there's more to math than what high school teaches you. Math can be a very beautiful thing. Besides, you wouldn't be on Scratch if it weren't for mathematicians in the 1930s studying computability.

How does dyscalculia affect the understanding of more abstract mathematical ideas, which don't involve numbers?

For example, if I told you,

There is something called a “group” that consists of:
  • a set (collection) called S
  • a binary operation on S (meaning, it takes two elements of S and produces an element of S) called +
  • an element of S called e
  • an unary operation on S (meaning, it takes an element of S and produces an element of S) called -
such that
  • for all a, b, c in S, a + (b + c) = (a + b) + c (associativity)
  • for all x in S, x + e = x and e + x = x (identity)
  • for all x in S, x + (-x) = e (inverse)

(and the elements of S are not numbers, you shouldn't think about how much they are “worth;” you can only look at the above rules)

then showed you this proof:

Lemma: The identity element e is its own inverse
Proof:
  • e + (-e) = e (inverse, where x = e)
  • e + (-e) = -e (identity, where x = -e)
  • -e = e (transitivity of equality)

can you understand what's going on?

no. because math has been outlawed in my country so we don't learn it.
