Can't upload a scratch file from my computer into a project
My browser / operating system: Windows 8.1, Chrome 71.0.3578.98, No Flash version detected
So I have a major problem that I can't upload an update for a project from my computer to to the actual project! If you don't understand what that means then I'll explain: So I use the offline editor a lot, and I have a game that I constantly update by making them in the offline editor (it's massive lines of code). Then I would select “upload from your computer” from the file menu and the project would be updated.
However, ever since Scratch 3.0 came out instead of it uploading the file to the project that is supposed to be the game, it uploads it in a completely different project. I need it to upload to the project that I selected load from! Or else it'll never get any attention and I'd be running around with a million different versions of the game! PLEASE FIX THIS! I want to keep updating the correct project so that when a player plays the game, it's at it's most updated version, or else players might never even know that it updated! Here's the project that I'm talking about in specific: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/200117767/
I don't get a chance to work on this online as most of the time when I am working on it I don't have an internet connection.

Can't upload a scratch file from my computer into a project
Hi! This is a good question. The behavior of “Load” in 3.0 is different from “Upload from your computer” in 2.0. In 3.0, when you load a new project, it doesn't overwrite the project you're in; it creates a new one.
What you could do is export all the sprites from your project in the offline editor (by right-clicking on their thumbnails and choosing “export”), and upload those .sprite3 files into your online project. Since there is no way to export the backdrop as a sprite, you would have to copy the new backdrop code manually.
Thank you for bringing this up; it's helpful to know that you used the old “Upload” functionality.

So I have no idea how to make a new topic (so help with that would also be great) , but this is related to what I'm asking. I can't download projects and use the offline editor either. I use a downloaded version of the scratch 2.0 editor and when I download a project and try to open it with the editor, it just changes the title but doesn't upload any sprites, blocks, or sounds. Again, really sorry I am posting it beneath another conversation, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to make a new post either.

No problem, that's another good question. All projects on the website are now .sb3 files, so you have to use the 3.0 editor to open them (the 2.0 offline editor won't be able to open them). So you will have to download the 3.0 editor: https://scratch.mit.edu/download.
Let me know if you're not able to open your projects in the 3.0 offline editor (Scratch Desktop) and I can help you troubleshoot.
(And, to post a new forum thread, just go to the Bugs and Glitches forum and click ‘New topic’ in the top right, hope that helps

Yeah, I encountered this while updating one of my projects. I think from now on, I'll update from the online editor to avoid this, or change/add the code and sprites bit by bit after updating it in Scratch Desktop.
This is a useful feature in some ways, like if you don't want to make a new project before loading, or in case you forget to switch to a new project. It'll keep you from accidentally replacing the project you uploaded, but if you edit using the Scratch Desktop (which I did before) and load the project on the site, you'll be forced to create a copy. I don't think this must be changed, but it's a thing that might be removed or changed later.

Two problems: the first is that most of the time when I'm working on this I don't have an internet connection, so you can eliminate using the online editor, and the second one is this is my school computer, and we can't download anything on them. I can ask tech if they could download it for me, but I'm not sure if I can. I'll have more information tomorrow.

Is there any way that you could make an option to upload to the project in the files tab? It's because the lines of code that I make are way too massive to copy (I'm talking over 1,000 blocks a sprite). Please let me know what you can do about this!

I think it should be changed to uploading to the project, as the amount of code that I create before each update is extremely long, and I don't want a ton of versions of my game taking up space on my profile. I don't use the 3.0 editor as I personally like the layout of 2.0 better, and most of the time I don't have internet access when I'm working on it. If this is getting changed back, when will it be changed?
