3.0 Projects won't save.

My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 71.0.3578.98, No Flash version detected

Okay so I dont post on the forums often but this problem has been with me since Scratch 3.0 has been released. I've seen other people having a similar problem too. So, if I'm working on a project and I change something small (like move a script) then my project saves perfectly fine. But, if I change something largely (like add a sound file) then the project attempts to save for 20-30 seconds until coming up with a message of ‘Save Failed’. There's then two buttons ‘Try Again’ or ‘Download’. Try Again just repeats what just happened and Download doesn't do anything, just freezes the page. This project was originally made in Scratch 2.0 and moved over to 3.0 when it came out. This problem has been bugging me as I cannot work on my game as all progress is lost if I get out of the editor.

I hope someone can find a solution to this.

Yeah, I understand. It is very irritating.

The first thing you should do is to check if your computer is connected to the internet. If yes, then you should click “download” to download the project to make sure your work isn't lost.

Also, I think Scratch 3.0 doesn't allow copyrighted sounds to be imported.

Ah, that could be the case actually. I do often save when the project is still running. I will try it for a few days and see how it is.

Had a whole class of kids scratching and trying to save. About 1/2 had to DOWNLOAD and we got a .zip file. When I unzip it, it won't load back up! It's a folder .sb3. These kids aren't going to like Scratch if it does this every week. Is it too many people on the website making it busy and not able to save?

Try downloading 2.0. You can still upload 2.0 projects to 3.0.

I got the same issue after importing a project created on Scratch Desktop (Scratch 3). It was consistently failing to save (after a long wait time) after the project being loaded into the scratch website.
After removing all sounds in the project, the save action immediately succeeded. So yes, indeed, sounds can be one cause of save failures.

Thanks kritav
