How do I go back to 2.0?
As mentioned above, the only way is to use the offline editor. Also, what's wrong with childish?hshsghs why cant iask [Why does everyone hate 3.0?] and wait
You need to DOWNLOAD the 2.0 Offline Editor. Here's the link!
And you can even download the 1.4 editor right here!

How do I go back to 2.0?
I really don't like scratch 3.0 that much. How do I go back to 2.0? It is mostly because it is hard to scroll down and go to certain codes, and also the audio needs selecting, and deleting, and copying and pasting! I find 3.0 is way too childish. But I want to feel less childish and go back to 2.0 that I am used to!Unfortunately, you can't change the Scratch version to 2.0 again because 2.0 uses Adobe Flash which is going to be dead in 2020. However, you could get the 2.0 offline editor here!
I like 3.0 though.

Why not just turn down the brightness of your screen?

How do I go back to 2.0?
I was able to use 2.0 with Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. I set it to about a couple days after 2.0 released in 2013 and sometimes I can go into the editor.

How do I go back to 2.0?
I am experiencing many crashes and drawbacks when compared to Scratch 2.0. For example, in a project that worked completely fine previously in 2.0, it now crashes when viewing a specific sprite costume. I have no way to fix this. Another example, the sound editor is way too zoomed out to cut specific parts of audio effectively. ANOTHER, it ruins games that use larger sprites than what is meant to be provided. for example, the popular genesis sonic engine now is very broken due to a great resolution downsize.
I prefer 2.0. There are no two ways about it. 3.0 is way too buggy. I don't care about it being “childish”, I've always thought scratch was childish. But now, it's straight up unstable.
