Why does _sushi_ give out maki?

The title is self-explanatory, if you comment _sushi_, you get a maki.

Why is that?

I completely disagree. It doesn't look like sushi at all. This is visibly maki.

Is sushi an extra layer? Most sushi I've had looks like that but with more rice

Why does _sushi_ give out maki?

I think this could be because maki sushi is a lot more popular in Australia, and probably the US. (I've never been to the US, but I expect it to be similar because Australia's very similar to the US)

Last time I ate sushi and maki, sushi was some rice and raw salmon on top of it. And maki was a roll of rice and other various ingredients such as cucumber inside it.. so I am confusion
To avoid any further confusion, I suggest we make it so that we should type _maki_ instead of _sushi_

The “sushi” you ate was nigiri sushi.
Maki is what most people call regular sushi.
