Any Coldplay Fans Out There?

To be honest, I've always thought Scratchers had an interesting taste in music. So I'm not sure if there are going to be a whole lot of Coldplay fans here, but it's worth a try!

Anyways, I'm a really huge Coldplay fan!! Like you guys have no idea. Anyways, I just wanted to create this topic for any other Coldplay fans out there. Discuss your favorite songs, ask questions for other Coldplay fans, etc. I also wanted to share a few thinks to some really cool things I found.

First off, HERE'S a little something I spent over 15 hours putting together. It contains over 40 Coldplay songs you (may) have never heard. It includes unreleased tracks, and B-Sides. If I'm missing anything, let me know

Second, I managed to dig up every studio recorded instrumental from Coldplay. This includes most songs from every album, and even a few songs from the Viva La Vida demo leak.

If you're not big on downloading, you can also listen from a majority of the instrumentals on YouTube.

Lastly, here's one of my favorite Coldplay cover artists. Here's another one.

A little about myself:
I can not express to you how much I like some of Coldplay's music xD Last night, I couldn't stop crying because I was listening to the True Love and Reign of Love instrumentals. They make me so happy, and so sad at the same time. I can't even express it.

Anyways, my favorite songs are Reign of Love, followed by Speed of Sound in a close second. Then, I'd have to say True Love, Swallowed in the Sea, See you Soon, ugh, there's way too many!

Lastly, if I could have one wish, it would be to die with Chris Martin and the band giving me a private set. The last song I'd hear before passing on would have to be Reign of Love. Then I want Speed of Sound to be played at my funeral.

I have a boxset of four Coldplay CDs. Although I like Coldplay, I have no idea what to do with them.

All of the albums before Mylo Xyloto. I don't know if there are any b-sides because I haven't opened it. I got it at a record store for 35 bucks or something.

I just realised how awesome Coldplay is…cannot get Paradise out of my head!
I just wish Chris Martin hadn't broken up with Gwyneth Paltrow .

ikr? Have you listened to any of their older stuff yet? Parachutes and X&Y are two of my favorite albums. You should also give A Rush of Blood To The Head a listen. They're all great stuff!

Any Coldplay Fans Out There?

It's really funny that this thread would happen to bump back up, I literally listened to Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends yesterday and thought long and hard on whether I should post on this topic to talk about it and my experience with Coldplay so far, but it just happened.

Anyway, my first posts here were…very awkward to say the least. I might want to reintroduce myself here. I was obsessed with the song Viva La Vida as a kid (probably because of Fallen Kingdom, lol) and got into Clocks a bit later, but it wasn't until earlier this year, even with my boxset lying around, that I chose to start listening to Coldplay. I'm slowly eating my way through all of their albums in chronological order. As mentioned above, I just got around to Viva/Death and I want to briefly give my opinions. I know it's not the hip thing to say, but I actually didn't really get much into Parachutes (on the first listen anyway, might give it another go and see if it grows on me), it's too mellow for my tastes. A Rush Of Blood To The Head is slightly more energetic, a bit too similar to Parachutes for my liking but not bad. I feel like they really branched out on X&Y and I can confidently say that I enjoyed that one through and through. Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends goes further and I reckon it's a good showcase of them doing what they do. Overall, X&Y's my favourite so far and I'm looking forward to listening to the last three: people argue it's the point that they've begun to nadir, but based on what I've read about them, they seem like maximalist electro-pop stuff that I'd enjoy and I always wanted more electronics from Coldplay anyways.

My personal opinion on them in whole based off of what I've listened to so far is that they're alright, they're not a band that I significantly dig and I find them a bit patchy, but there's at least a few bangers each album and it's clear they're putting effort into it. It's a pretty derogatory term, but people call them “Radiohead-lite” all the time and I can kinda get that. The sound of the two is fairly similar and they like to play with genres, but Coldplay's much easier for most listeners to digest (whereas Radiohead has no problems alienating everyone where they can, that's what you get for liking Creep, ha ha) which I reckon has helped them in the long run.

I'd be interested in hearing what everyone else has to say, seems like there's a lot to talk about regarding Coldplay!

Thank you for posting this! It was great to hear. I'm really interested to hear your thoughts about the last 3 albums. I like the first 4 albums for the same reason you said you didn't like them. I love how mellow they are. The thing I love about Coldplay though, is they really do have different eras. Each album has such a distinct sound. If you ever go to a concert, their era is reflected in their performance. For example, Viva la Vida is based off a Spanish phrase that best translates into English as “Long Live Life”. The whole album is a story about love, life, war, death, and a revolution. The album takes artwork from Eugène Delacroix's painting Liberty Leading the People. Their stage performance during their Viva La Vida tour also featured the band in revolutionary outfits.
