Walkers Chronicles Star System, Lore, and Planetary Information

Walkers Chronicles is both a book series that I am writing currently, and a Roleplay studio. In this discussion, I will be speaking about the star system itself, where the series takes place, as well as the planetary information and the lore involved with each. Included in each part for each planet, I will be describing the type of biomes included, the peoples who live there and their beliefs, planet statistics, location of the SpacePorts and SkyElevators to them, time standards using Earth-Time, or T for comparison, seasonal differences, and other important topics for each planet.

I did a lot of scientific research to figure out just how it'd work out, in some ways, and the others was by looking at NASA for help, and looking stuff up so I can do a better Science-Fantasy Fiction work.

But before I get into each world, I just want to make sure you have an understanding of what is going to be talked about. So, without further ado, here is the background information for the star system itself.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The star system's name is Nova Faar.

The star system consists of twelve planets, seven of which are nestled within the habitable goldilocks zone (where life can survive) around a yellow star slightly larger in mass than our own. The kinds of planets are either gaseous (Jupiter-like, which only is three of the planets, all outside the goldilocks zone) or rocky (like earth, which is the vast majority). All are between the sizes of neptune to the size of jupiter or even larger, which would lead to the radii of each being between a large span of 90,000 to as small as 14,000 miles (144,840.96 to 22,530.816 kilometers). Due to the large size of the planets, there are fairly high gravities, ranging between 1.2G to as high as 2G, and there is still life able to survive on the planet, due to development on the high-gravity planets early on. Almost all of the planets have at least two moons, if there are any at all, and there is a variation between the tilts of each planet, from as small a tilt as 10 degrees to a 27 degrees, where 23-26 degrees is the Earth's average tilt in comparison, as it ranges between those tilts here on Earth. Temperatures range between planets, as well as atmospheric density to sustain life, and terraforming moons if there are atmospheres on them.

Although there are worlds where it seems as though the technology is very little, there is actually a very versatile kind of technology, used by all “humans”. This technology includes holograms, space ships that can travel between planets at speeds faster than light, nanobots within the bloodstream (choice only), biotechnology, genetic alterations, and various other scientific breakthroughs that we Earthies do not yet have, yet wish to have in the future. Some are already here, but the technology was discovered over a million years ago for those who live in the star system Nova Faar. Because of the advancement in technology, theirs is much further along than our own, and we can only wish to figure out just exactly how their own technology works.

For those who determine twelve standard months for their planets, there is a standard naming system set up for them.
These names are in correlation to our own 12 months.

January –> Norave
February –> Arothia
March –> Decroa
April –> Morra
May –> Khozoran
June–> Souram
July –> Hawthere
August –> Zorum
September –> Coros
October –> Xiez
November –> Quiora
December –> Forezan

Walkers Chronicles Star System, Lore, and Planetary Information

FIRST (inhabited) PLANET

Nickname: Technological Planet

Known For: Creating all technology used on the other planets.

Biomes Included: Most have been taken over by the technology and the biomes are pretty overrun by technology.

Local Beliefs: The people on the Technological Planet do not believe in a higher power, and thus consider those who do weak and unintelligent. If they cannot prove the existence of a higher power, then they do not believe in what those on other planets in the star system believe. Because of this, one can consider them agnostic or atheistic, as they do not believe in what they cannot prove through science. Although, there are some who are now saying that, while you cannot prove the existence of a higher power, it does not mean that one cannot disprove the existence of a higher power that the other worlds believe that there is.

Planetary Lore: It is believed that over three millennia ago, they created the people that are considered natives to their own worlds, including the Sky-Walkers, on the Heart Planet, and the Water-Walkers, on the Ocean Planet, through working alongside magicians to create a genetic masterpiece that blends that of a creature (in wings or fins that somehow disappear on land) with the human genetic coding. There is no longer any proof of it, as documentation of the processes were ultimately destroyed to keep the secret from ever reaching the genetic creations' ears, for fear that there would be a rebellion by them, as had happened through the flawed versions centuries before the creations. Because of this, there are stipulations that these “creations”, as they might be, should be held in the labs. Although genetic alterations has been denied of creating new gene splicing creations for the past two millennia, the fact that genetic alterations still exist stands as a living testament as to whether the lore can be believed or not by those who suspect.

Planet Statistics:
  • Diameter: 20,000 miles (32,186.88 kilometers)
Description: A rocky planet, with a core of 25% metal and 75% molten rock, due to the usage of metal from the planet in order to create technology, initially. There are small forests and plains, as the majority of the surface consists of manmade cities.
Gravity Strength: 1.4 times Earth's gravity
Amount of Moons: Five moons, two of which are comprised entirely of technology, thus being artificial moons, and one of the two aforementioned that acts as a SpacePort.
    Rings?: None
Speed of Planetary Rotation at Equator (Speed goes into Day length): 35,000 mph (56,327.04 kmph)
    Rotation Direction: Counterclockwise
Planetary Tilt: 20 degrees. Little variation in the tilt, due to the amount of moons.

SpacePort/SkyElevator Locations: One is located on the largest continent, Noaka, the other two on the Western and Eastern edges of the second and third largest continents, Baon and Uradon. There are only three of them, as the planet is somewhat smaller than the rest.

Time Standards: These are the standards.
  • Length of Year (Orbit): 247 standard Earth days
Length of Day: Around 10 standard Earth hours

Seasonal Differences: There are five seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall, Coldbreak, and Winter. Coldbreak is the term for the two months between Fall and Winter, where it starts getting cold, but there is absolutely no snow. Not that it gets very cold in the first place. Due to being closest to the star while still being in the habitable Goldilocks zone, temperatures don't get much lower than 3 degrees Celsius on average, although there have been reports of snow on the poles.

Other: While the other worlds do not use much of the advanced technology available from the Technological planet, there is actually a whole array of tech that is used regularly by the inhabitants of the planet. There are many groups that create new and more advanced technology, and even more that manufacture them and sell for the creators, thus creating many mega corporations that have quite a lot of power on the planet. Due to this, it is not a monarchy, nor a democracy, but an oligarchy ruled by the mega corporations, which each take a continent. In all, there would be around seventeen different megacorporations, due to the fact that there are seventeen continents. Disregarding this nonsense, the true amount of mega corporations is far more, adding up to around 57 corporations of various sizes and amounts of influence. The mega corporation that has the most influence is the Gazaga Intelligence and Communication Corporation, responsible for most of the technology created and used.

There has been an increase in immersal technology, skyrocketing due to the fact that it is easily accessed by those who wish to travel to another world and experience the sights and sounds without actually leaving the planet. If you have the money, you can get just about anything. On the other hand, there has been an unexpected decrease in communication technology, except for on the other worlds, where normal face to face communication is key, without using an immersal. It's cheaper that way, and, besides, most people do not want to have technology taking care of them while they are perfectly capable of doing it themselves. Aside from that, the technology used is most commonly holographic messaging and immersion technology, which means that people are more connected than ever, without ever leaving the comfort of home.

Walkers Chronicles Star System, Lore, and Planetary Information

SECOND (inhabited) PLANET

Nickname: Desert Planet

Known For: This world is the hottest out of all of the planets, due to it being in a closer orbit to Nova Faar's star.

Biomes Included: Desert, Warm Coastal, Humid jungles near the poles, Tropical/Subtropical, Savannah

Local Beliefs: The people on the Desert Planet are a polytheistic people, believing in more than one Spirit, which we would consider a god. Although they are polytheistic, they still believe in the Great Father Spirit, which reigns above all of the other Spirits.

Planetary Lore: The common belief is that the three moons, which orbit opposite their planet's own rotation, have a strange attribute to them. This attribute is considered as magic and magnetic forces at odds, as there are many myths that revolve around the three moons. One of those myths is that a fire/volcano Spirit called Vulcana and her husband, a oceanic Spirit, had a daughter named Mikarnamm, or M, who is the smallest of the three moons. The two other moons are the twin lunar Spirits Saccrise and Teerlisse, who guard and guide Mikarnamm through their course around the Desert Planet. Another source says that the two larger moons are her servants and guardians, Seph and Sayto, twins that were brought into being through Mikarnamm's magic and the fact that they were created from that which she placed in the darkest of places as a set reminder that, even in the darkest of places and times, life still thrives. They say that Seph was created from a living beam of moonlight, while Sayto was created from a nightflower, both linked to her through them.

Some say that Mikarnamm has walked among them once before, and will do so many times over, searching for her father, who disappeared from the Spirit Realm for reasons best left unspoken. They also say that the other Spirits walk among them, from time to time, when they anger their queen, Vulcana, or if they forgo their traditions held unspoken for millenia, and are made mortal for a single mortal year before being allowed to return. For all that is known, the lore is really quite extensive and colorful, revolving mainly around the Spirits, and the times that they become mortal for reasons we do not know. If they hold true, one would like to speak with a real Spirit.

Planet Statistics:
  • Diameter: 13,500 miles (21726.144 kilometers)
Description: A freshwater-only planet with high temperatures and a more gold or amber and blue appearance from space. There are many mountains, savannahs, and good coasts, as well as large desert expanses. Near the poles, there are humid jungles, since the planet is cooler there. There are many
small freshwater oceans, lakes, and rivers, lush with life, and the centers of trade, as life always flourishes near water.
Gravity Strength: 1.53 times Earth's gravity
Amount of Moons: Three moons revolve counterclockwise around the planet, one pair is in a binary orbit. The lone one is to soon be ejected, due to their odd revolution around the Desert Planet. Scientists say that all three moons are being slowly ejected by the Desert Planet, or, if they are to stay near the planet, they will soon have to collide to combine into a single moon.
    Rings?: None
Speed of Planetary Rotation at Equator (used to determine length of days): 2,500 mph (4023.36 kmph)
    Rotation Direction: Clockwise
    Planetary Tilt: 15 degrees

SpacePort/SkyElevator Locations: located at the precise spot where tourists most enjoy visiting, on both the eastern and western hemisphere, centered between the two on a fairly large island.

Time Standards:
  • Length of Day: 27.3 standard Earth hours
Length of Year (Orbit): 417 standard Earth days

Seasonal Differences: Long Summers, No true winter, with a short fall and long spring. Temperatures rarely get lower than a mild 15 degrees celsius. The twelve months are adopted here.

Other: Libraries hold a lot of the information that most would like to learn about the Spirits. Make sure to travel to all of the coasts, especially the lesser-known, as the most popular ones are often crowded with visitors and tourists. The better known, the bigger the tourist trap they are. While they are tourist-flooded during the cooler months, it is more advised to visit during the warmer months if you plan on visiting the best places. Keep your plans flexible, as the weather can get unpredictable during the summer months, and you don't want to get stranded on the planet until travel is safe. Visit all the markets you can, as that's the best view into the culture, if that interests you. If you are a history fan, visit the archeological sites open for the public to view and walk within.

The government is highly hierarchical, and there are only tribes, no kingdoms. There are many different permanent settlements, shared by many different tribes at various times.
