Should the Location Feature Be Removed?

Main reasons why I do not support this suggestion:
  • “Con: Takes up space in about me”
  • It's useful on profiles. It lets people know that you're from that country, and, for example, it lets people know that they're probably not gonna understand what you're talking about if it's something that doesn't exist in their country.
If you need an example of the above, how about, someone says “What's your favourite <insert TV show here> episode out of these episodes: <episode name 1>, <episode name 2> or <episode name 3>”, but none of those episodes had released in their country yet? Another example would be time zones. It would be quite inconvenient for people to wait until what is about 1:00 am in the morning for you to comment on their projects because they're just guessing what time zone you're in, and guessed incorrectly.
Instead, the current system is fine because you do not have to give out your country if you don't want to, so I don't really see any actual reason to implement this suggestion.

By the way, for 2A, I do think sharing the country I live in can be an invasion of privacy. But I'll share it anyways; I live in Antarctica.
Antarctica isn't a country, it's a continent, and I really doubt you actually live in Antarctica either, no offence. Could you also explain how sharing the country you live in is an invasion of privacy?

Edit: If you don't see it as an invasion of privacy, why does your profile not say “U.S.”
It sounds funny, so I just say that.

Should the Location Feature Be Removed?

We talked this over on the Scratch Team. While it is true that it is not always accurate (we have an awful lot of Scratchers from “Antarctica”!) - it's still pretty cool to see all the different places that Scratch is used. We decided to keep it for now. Thanks for the suggestion though - keep thinking of ways to improve Scratch
