I’m sorry, but I just don’t see the magic in that series. It’s really overhyped, and besides, I’m pretty certain everyone would rather have an original game rather than a sequel (or “threequel” if you like).

You really make it seem like SMG is the greatest thing in the history of everything if you think that the series finale of the most popular video game franchise should be yet another Galaxy game.

Well, the first world would be World 1 from SMB with modern graphics. After that it has established everything and becomes its own thing. Constantly switching between 2D and 3D, with a progressive powerup system in the 2D sections and a life meter in the 3D ones. When you switch between them, you get powerups if your life meter is over 1 in 2D (super mushroom if it's 2, random power if it's 3) and your powerup state transfers to 3D (super mushroom only gives you two HP, progressive powerups give you full 3 and you get to use the powerup for a short period of time in 3D). Nostalgia is one heck of a drug. I also think Twilight Princess is the best Zelda game after beating Breath of the Wild for the exact same reason. The people who have nostalgia for SM64 already have Super Mario Odyssey. Those of us who have nostalgia for Super Mario Galaxy could really use a linear 3D Mario game with the same physics as 64, Sunshine, Odyssey, and of course Galaxy 1 and 2. And to accentuate this point even further, my idea for it would not be your average E-rated Mario game. It would have a darker story of Bowser throwing in the towel and resorting to murdering Peach, some blood in a few cutscenes (and sometimes in the world around you), and even a few mild (MILD) swears, because that's what we twisted teenagers want.

I get people asking for dark versions of some of their favourite video game series, I can completely understand that, but Mario is the one that's just the hardest to imagine for me. Even though he may have that grim look in Smash games, I still can only see that childlike essence. Super Paper Mario is as dark as a Mario game should ever get, to be honest. No other Mario game is allowed to ever cross that threshold in my opinion.
