Onion Skins and Scratch

This would help so much! I suggested onion skin too, but here's one thing that needs to be explained:
Onion skin shows any previous edits (no matter when they were made) in ghost form on the next frame.
Example: If you drew 8 frames of bases and traced over the first frame, even though you made the bases before, the new traced ghost form of the first frame would show on the second frame.

I would assume if they had this feature you could just turn it off when you are done animating

No support. Scratch is primarily a coding site. Although you can animate with it, adding a specialized animation tool like onion-skinning is a bit too much and wouldn't be useful for a lot of Scratchers who don't animate.

onion skin is my main tool for animating. I've tried a few animations on scratch as it is, but it reallyyy doesn't turn out well. I hope this can be added in update 3.0!!

but it wouldnt show up in the costume editor, it would just show up in the project.

This topic is a bit old, but support. I feel that everything you need to make a project should be accessible within Scratch, and this is honestly the one thing that isn't.

Ima just help some people out as most of them don't appear to animate and seem kinda confused.

Onion skin is referring to inside the costume designer. Outside the costume designer, I'm not sure there would be any use for onion skins.

Then they can just turn it off. A lot of things in Scratch aren't useful to a specific group of people, but ST isn't gonna remove it because it still has an audience. And animation is used in most games to any extent.

Also here's a quick explanation to those who still don't know what Onion Skinning is:
Basically, if you had two costumes and you put one more costume in between, the costume that is above and the costume that is below the center will be tinted different colors and be transparent when viewing the layer that is between the two, making for a more consistent animation.

(Also I saw a topic that got taken down because it was a dupe of this one, but they did also suggest layers in that, which would REALLY help out with the sketching process. All art programs have layers, so I find it weird that Scratch hasn't added them yet.)

As an average aniamtor, I've been wanting this to improve my animating. With this, my animating would greatly be improved and I would probably feel better about my projects as a whole.
In gerneral, I think that the whole animator community would be benefitted by this.

Why? I animate with FireAlpaca sometimes but then I realize at the last minute the canvas is too small and I have to redo the animation, and when I animate in the Scratch Paint Editor I always end up drawing one frame that's in the center, and then the next is all the way to the side somehow

ok, but you can literally do onion skin in real life if you get paper and sone light, it really isnt that advanced
