So a guy named ChezWizard has been, well, “cursing” Scratchers with the “Chez Curse”. So I kinda got into it, but then stopped and “Un-Chezed” myself because, quite frankly, it's getting out of hand.

People have been going around saying, “HAHA! THE CHEZ WIZARD HAS GIVEN ME THE CHEZ CURSE! NOW I'M GOING TO CURSE YOU WITH CHEZ FOR ONE DAY! ヽ(｀Д´)⊃━☆ﾟ. * ･ ｡ﾟ, Now you must change your icon to cheese, and curse other people too! (You don't actually have to change your icon, but…)”

So my question is, is this bad or against the Scratch Terms And Guidelines? Is this a form of spam? I feel it's getting out of hand, and I feel it is spam, but I don't know, or think anything should be done, since it's really just for fun. And really, since it is “(You don't actually have to change your icon, but…)”, It's not that you have to do it.

I don't think ChezWizard should be banned or anything, but…

What do you think about it?

Honestly, it is spam, but us Scratchers who have participated just do it for fun. I still have the cheese icon because I think it looks kinda cool.

I'm trying not to spread the “curse” myself, though, since it really does feel like spam to me. You might want to ask a Scratch Team member about it, though, because as much as I don't want @ChezWizard to get reported for this, at the end of the day it is spam.

Although, he does say “you don't have to, though”. And he's not really being annoying by asking for followers or loves/favorites. I suppose I have mixed feelings about it.

(Even @ChezWizard himself didn't think it would go this far.)

Yes, I will ask a member of the Team, like we both said, it not really “bad”, or in a way “forcing” people to do it, but some people were cheesing like, 10 people!

In a way, yeah. It's technically a chain message, which is spam. However, it does point out that you're not being forced to do it if you don't want to, unlike many chain messages which say something bad will happen if you don't forward it, so my best guess is that it's discouraged.

It's basically like doing electronic trash in a chair.

I think it's just plain fun.

Update: @ChezWizard has revealed to me (on my profile) that he has gotten an alert, and so he is shutting down this operation before it gets too far.

She can report it to be closed if the topic is resolved and the topic creator has given some sort of indication they got the answer they wanted.
