Or you COULD do this:
Pause button sprite:
when this sprite clicked
set [pause v] to (1)
All other sprites:
when green flag clicked
forever
if <not <(pause) = [1]>> then
...

Yes. Though both have downsides, phosphorus you can't edit of remix, scratch 3 (full) is coming out on Jan 2nd, but for Beta idk when.
