So comments are alright. Not the best. So what about an emoji menu if you have the cursor after a starting underscore? Why not? I can't memorise all of the emojis, and even if I could, I don't know them.

I thought the emojis were meant to be an easter egg, but maybe their intention has changed.
Edit: This topic is asking for an autocomplete menu that appears within the text area, while the other topic is asking for an external menu like on the forums. I think the difference is small enough that it can be used to build on the other suggestion.
