Scratch Writing Camp - July 2018 || Leader Discussion
Guys I need a good plot for a story- so far all I have is the characters. The protagonist is Millie, a deaf girl who meets an autistic boy who she doesn't like at first but then they become almost like best friends. I'm fine with all the research, I already know lots of autistic people and have done lots of research on both autism and deafness so that isn't my problem. I'm really trying to represent both groups of people respectfully and hopefully accurately. But what do you guys think would be a good plot? They both go to high school but I'd like the plot not to revolve around bullying too much, since I think that would be a little cliche.
Sorry I haven't been too helpful around here, I've been pretty busy lately in real life but when I do check it seems like all activity checks have been done. If anyone wants any writing advice from me that I know I can do at any time. Maybe like the story trade thing where we give each other feedback like Silver suggested a few pages ago?

Eci, do you need any help organizing the campers? Also, you are assigning the campers who only want a specific cabin, right? If it is that way, my Sci-fi list helps They really seemed to want to join our cabin! Yay! Final question: how many campers approximately will be in each cabin?
1. I'm fine atm, but thanks for offering the help

Introduce a new character, not sort of a bully, but more like.. an overly-concerned teacher, and have the teacher fuss over helping them but then she learns from the two kids? I don't really know. oVo

Hmm… Maybe there could be a complementing sort of story? Like, the deaf girl wants to do something that her disability keeps her from and the autistic kid tries to help her? Or vise versa?

Are you a fantasy writer, Candy? Because I've ALWAYS wanted to write a book or even short story in which there's some sort of quest or adventure (you know, cliche fantasy teenager books. Also doesn't have to be a ‘quest’ per say), but the main characters have disabilities. They have to learn from each other in order to overcome their disability and the challenges they face. And they also learn that even if you have said disability, you can still be a hero.
That's all I have, since I'm not a real-fi writer at all xD Sounds like interesting characters though!

Okay I'll try to make this as Moon as I can :'3 so here's my first question: Do both/any of them have siblings? Because then it would be like one of them gets in a major fight with one another, and then hate each other, and the character then feels bad since they didn't really mean it, and they are kind of more mentally hurt since her sibling which is always by their side now hates them and doesn't want anything to do with them?? Idk.
Oh, and also, do they have a pet/mental support animal?? Because then it could be like their pet passed away and the mom doesn't want to get another pet, even though she knows the best for her child, she can't take care of her kid(s) and another dog after one just died and it was a close member so she doesn't really want to have a different dog. The char then has to cope without her pet, and even if it wasn't a mental support animal, she still loved it and wishes to get another dog??
Yeah I think I just made it really hard to understand lol- idek anymore

Mmm, maybe romance? :3 I think it is best if you make the relationship develop over time, an easy note at a time. They can also just become best friends at the end… Guys I need a good plot for a story- so far all I have is the characters.
