I know Linux is an option but lets be real, as its mostly going to be gamers buying this they probably wont want Linux mint.

If you want to actually sell computers to normal people, you need an official copy of Windows for each computer. You don't want to risk going to jail(exaggeration). You could even just not do anything to upgrade the computers, just clean them up and sell them on with a copy of ChromeOS(like I do, they sell pretty well). ps. I'm not sure I'll buy a dusty breadbin from 2005 with a GTX 750 in.

Right, I know it's all about the open source software these days, but calling Windows malware isn't on. How come it's malware? Because it's closed source? Then use ReactOS, that's gotten pretty far in progress and can run many Windows software.

No one wants to game on linux, a lot of distros have really buggy nVidia graphics support, and most gamers use nVidia.

Linux is a great OS, but you're not gonna get the best out of your PC with it, and you need to expect software to come in an uncompiled state.

OK, so I know that nobody likes IE and other browsers by Microsoft, right? Well, I'm saying your missing out on something without using MS Edge. It's actually a beautiful and compact browser compared to IE. You should compare these images.

Doesn't MS Edge look like something you would actually want to use? I think so.

He's not trying to say that all proprietary software is malware.In fact, ChromeOS is just Google's fork of an open source project. In fact, I could write a washing machine control script for the Raspberry Pi and stick it on Github. It's not a constructive use of my time, hardly anyone would use it - but if there was anybody who really wanted a FOSS washing machine, then they could build one, in theory.

It's the same with Windows. I am one of very few people who use Linux in the grand scheme of things. Most people use Windows or MacOS. But for the few people, like me, who want to keep proprietary code on their system to a minimum, it exists.

Someone could create a Free competitor to it, and nobody could stop them (unless they were doing anything illegal) since there's no way you could patent ScratchNetwork, it's just a concept which has been around for too long. Also, whether something can be described as “malicious” is entirely subjective. So quit this argument - it's just dominating the entire of this part of the Forums now.

Malware is something that is designed to mistreat or harm the user. Non-free proprietary software puts the developer in a much higher position over the users and that is why proprietary software is often malware (but not always). However all software should be F/LOSS.
