I tried that as well, using different variations of number lengths. It didn't work out, some produced binary numbers longer than 8 digits.

I'm still trying but I can't devote too much time to this! How about another clue? One that doesn't give away too much, I'm thinking number of letters in first word or total number of words. (please)

The encrypted message was something that no longer holds true, so learning the content wouldn't have any value. I didn't expect it would get attention this far in the future, so I'd recommend you just focus on other puzzles. If you really want a hint though, think in pairs.
