In theory, is a time machine that takes pictures from the past possible?

Note: This topic suggests that many other future inventions exist.
Don't get angry at me for that.
All future inventions are highlighted in blue.

I guess if anything out of the topic section's desc inspired me, it would be books about time travel. The idea of time travel has always fascinated me, and I wonder if any of you guys agree with me on my theory. Please, enjoy.

SPECULATION BEGINS HERE

If transporters existed, would it be possible to immediately send a specifically programmed super-light-year-zooming camera out a few light years (programmed to a certain point away from our galaxy), and have the programming in it take a picture aimed directly at a specific part of Earth? I think that this may be able to take a picture of an ancient moment in history. For example, we may be able to prove the details of the Trojan War.

Trojan War mock-up.

Then, after the picture is taken, it transports the camera back to Earth so that the picture can be seen.
Think about how this might work:
1. The camera is instantly transported light years away from Earth.
2. It takes a zoom-in pic from the light rays bouncing back to it (those rays that are being transported to the camera are old).
3. The camera gets transported back home.
4. People can see the old picture.

SPECULATION ENDS HERE

If anybody else agrees with me, then please let me know. If anybody also knows a better topic section, then let me know about this to.

That is an interesting concept! I'm not so sure about transporters, but if you could get some kinda wormhole thing going the results could be pretty incredible

Time travel is very interesting. There are several Sonic games which involve time travel, including Sonic '06 and Generations.

A camera that would take a photo in a past time period would be cool.

Perhaps you're on to something with the wormholes. But that's also assuming that they exist, and they might be a little bit unstable. Just jumping around from the present to a random time in the past…

Maybe with this invention, non-exploded Pompeii could be on Google Street View.

Assuming that these exist, it could be kicked up a notch be using a zooming 3D scanner instead of a camera. Then, you could use holodecks to re-create the environments so that you can walk around in them.

So the main problem would be transporting information faster than light, since with current technology we can see about 13.6 billion years into the past!

We can see the Earth that long ago?

No, but the edge of our observable universe is ~13.6 billion light years away

Oh. But I mean immediately transporting far away, and then taking far-zoomed-in pics of the Earth's surface. Perhaps by bending a wormhole from one place to another (if that's possible).

Space bridges. Hasbro already solved this problem.

I wonder if it's possible to bend a wormhole.

of COURSE you had to put sonic here

dve and john from homestuck can time travel in one way or another

I see space bridges as man-made/controlled wormholes.

So maybe Hasbro was onto something.
