posting a scratch project as a video elsewhere?
I made a 15 second scratch animation for a project I am doing on another web site, diy.org. I wanted to post the scratch animation as a “video” on diy.org, but it does not recognize the file name of scratch projects (.sbu is how it saves when I upload it to my desktop so I can pull it onto this other web site.) Is there a way to save a scratch animation as a video? If not, does anyone have any other suggestions? The project requires me to either drag a video file onto the page; the scratch file is not recognized as either type.

No, unfortunately, there isn't a way you can save an animation as a video. But you can embed your project to the website.

I have a Steam account. If you have one too, feel free to add me to your friends list.
Also check out my YouTube channel if you like the outdoors, Minecraft, cars, roller coasters, etc.

Use a screen recorder program to record the project in action and upload that video to the site

Thanks for the suggestion to use a screen recorder. It would be a great feature to be able to turn scratch animations into videos. How can this idea be fed back to the development team?

Hi all and especially @DrComley, don't know if anyone had already submitted a suggestion, if yes, please give me the thread url so I can go there to submit a supporting vote
In any case, hope those who want to be able to do something like @cheddar208, hope you will hop over to

(Save/export Scratch animation as video file)
and add your voice as another who wants such a feature for Scratch
BTW, I just noticed the toolbar at the top and it looks like now I can add hyperlinks? Let me try
My robotic related blog is at

where for the moment the contents are mainly LEGO WeDo related. Will soon add Scratch related topics there.

After you record your project you will have an FLV file of it. That's the video.
Open your YouTube account, click “upload” and find the FLV video on your computer.
YouTube will handle it from there.

Can you make a screen recorder with scratch code? I'm trying to make an animator with screen recording.

Please don't necropost. Make your own topic to ask your question. Can you make a screen recorder with scratch code? I'm trying to make an animator with screen recording.
