Captcha V1 no longer supported, is not guaranteed to work, will stop working entirely March 2018

Hi,

I'm sure this is on your radar already, but can you confirm you're upgrading to Captcha 2.0 soon? March is the deadline.

Today one of my students got an error on your site's ReCaptcha screen saying "CaptchaV1 no longer supported-direct your admin to https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/faq

From elsewhere on google's developer site:

reCAPTCHA V1 - Unsupported
reCAPTCHA V1 has been deprecated since May of 2016 and will not work for new sites. reCAPTCHA v1 is no longer supported and continued functionality can not be guaranteed. Please switch to one of the options above.

This explains why my students have so much trouble with your ReCaptcha screen.

Every day in my classes, at least one my students will mis-type their password and are redirected to the ReCaptcha screen on their 2nd attempt. From they are “dead in the water” as the success rate to get past this screen is almost zero, even when I carefully type in everything for them. We usually have to move them to another computer and have them carefully sign in cleanly, which is frustrating for us all.

Is this going to be upgraded in time?

Thanks

My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 63.0.3239.132, Flash 28.0 (release 0)

What screenshot is there to be had? The problem is described well in the original post. This paragraph describes what the students are seeing:

Not to be rude, but you won't need a screenshot if you read the post again. Though a screenshot would be nice.

Hi, I can't get the message to reappear, but by going to the link I provided, you can clearly see from Google that the version of ReCaptcha currently used by Scratch 2.0 is no longer supported.

I hope the developers of Scratch at MIT are going to update to the supported version soon! It will stop working entirely in less than 60 days!

Can we hear from one of the Scratch Team on this?

Still happening. I guess there's a server in the fleet somewhere that escape upgrade.

Just tested what happens if you enter an incorrect password several times.

Now the sign-in process just ignores further input, not going to the captcha screen. This makes sense now that it's March and google has completely disabled Captcha V1 as promised. Looks like the scratch team hasn't updated anything, and kids who screw up their password entries will just be stuck entirely.

Hello Scratch team? Can we somehow get some attention on this issue?

Thank you for posting about this. Sadly this did not come to our attention until this morning. You should not be seeing all captcha events displaying the sunset text. The sunsetting is not until March 31st, and when testing this morning, we did not see it occur. We're working on a fix and will publish it soon.

A quick bump, since somebody just experienced this issue:

We released a version using v2 captchas last week. Most likely the issue Thom_Irel is reporting is related to a browser caching issue, but we'll look into it.

The Captcha that we are using was upgraded last week - so perhaps you have some old information cached that is confusing it. I suggest you clear your browser cache and reload the browser and see if that helps.
