Bring back the old way of messages
In my opinion, the new messages page is good. Unlike the previous messages page, it actually doesn't reload the entire page when you try seeing older messages, so that way, it doesn't already think that you already read them, thus making it impossible to know which ones you read unless you have superior memory.

I can't really say much about this, but I can tell you that I think the reason the ST is doing this is they're trying to make the whole site more mobile-friendly by making everything larger and blockier. Hope that gives you some insight.

Perhaps it would be more productive for them to simply add back that feature, into the new page? That's actually the thing I miss the most, too..!Hmm.. what was your favorite thing about the old messages page? Can you think of any particular reason you miss it so much?My favorite thing was that it showed me more messages even from years ago. That's why I miss it so much.
Before you could go to https://scratch.mit.edu/messages/?page=100, and you'd see the messages from months to years ago (depending on how many messages you've gotten before). Now there's no `?page` URL..
Yeah. However, I think we can convince the Scratch Team to revert it back to the old version.
That's what I had in mind! How can we contact them to bring back that feature?

That's what I had in mind! How can we contact them to bring back that feature?Your best bet is to just make a suggestion in the Suggestions forum. (I know this is already a Suggestions post; but making a more specific topic, e.g. a “bring back the Messages's pages feature” which explains how you can't view your old messages without the feature, would be helpful.)

yeah i like the old one too, its simple, shows you your new messages, and gets its job done, on the other side of things, the new one looks nice, does not show which messages are new, and, messages take up even more space, so you cant just see your messages, you have to keep scrolling! honestly the only thing i really care for about the new message page is that there are more ways to sort your mail, but, its not worth it!

Ok, so people complained before that the old messaging system had no filter.
However when:People still complain because they can't count their messages? Why does that matter?
- The ST actually add a suggestion for the first time in ages
- They add the filter you were all asking for the past 3 years
- They change the format so it isn't just ugly writing crammed together
- You can find messages easier,
Yeah, honestly the new messages are WAY too cluttered. Nothing is separated by which day the message appeared, and it's less compressed with new graphics, making it very tedious to scroll down to see all your notifications instead of easily being able to view all the messages at once when they were close together.Just need to point out:
- You've said the new messages were way too cluttered AND less compressed at the same time, which I'm pretty sure cancel each other out.
- Every message states the time it was made.
- They've added the filter, made to separate the messages.
I'm still waiting for a decent reason to support this topic right now.
I understand. However, I think they should bring back the old messages page, but with filters.

I feel like the only one who actually liked this updateYou're not alone! It is a bit fat, though. I don't support bringing the old way back. I do support having less spacing.

The only things I don't like is that you can't see your alerts and the new messages aren't labelled with grey like they were before.
i agree
I really miss the old messages page. Would you mind if you could change it back to the old version?
I'm not the scratch team
Hmm.. what was your favorite thing about the old messages page? Can you think of any particular reason you miss it so much?
I miss the message pages. Because sometimes I celebrate milestones like 5,000 messages, or more recently, 10,000…

I'd wish!!

But… at least say why you would like the old message page. It doesn't mean nothing that “you miss that”.
I would like it because, in case I would celebrate more milestones like 20,000 messages or 50,000.

I feel that the new one is better, and will compliment Scratch 3.0 more. There's more space to see comments, and user icons. No support.

Here's an image of the old messages page.(offtopic) So, CrazyNimbus is your other account? (offtopic)
How do you feel about it compared to the current one?
The other one looks more modern, and uses the new layout. The new layout looks good, but I have always wondered why things are getting more “plain” if you know what I'm talking about. One example is the windows logo. It used to be a colored and curved window that was moving because of the black dots, but now it's just a flat blue window.

I helped to make a userscript that (semi) restores the old layout.
You will need Tampermonkey(chrome) or Violentmonkey(firefox) to install it.

It's basically confirmed at this point that the ST aren't going to #BringItBack , in either case (discuss or messages).
So in answer to your question, no.
also I like the messages page
Actually, bringing back the old messages page hasn't been listed or mentioned on the list of rejected suggestions yet.
