Problems With Spritesheets/Exporting Costumes
So recently I wanted to animate something Sonic-related with the sprites from Sonic Mania, so I went onto the spriters resource (who dosen't?) and downloaded the spritesheet for Sonic. I did the usual “crop it so that the only sprites are the ones I wanna use” thing with the photo editor on windows 10 (windows 10 is my os, btw) but I nocited something… as soon as I press “save a copy”, the quality drops and the colors become weird! and apparently it's been doing that ALL THE TIME, it's just that only now I notice because for once I'm using a spritesheet with a background that isn't white! it does the same thing when I use paint to crop as well!
Also, whenever I export costumes, no matter which file converter I use, the size gets doubled from it!

Try a different image editor. Paint.net is free.

You can crop out just the sprites you want to use inside the costume editor of scratch itself.
Try my games.

You use the integrated Paint in Windows10 instead the Photo Editor.

Actually it is just as easy as MS Paint but with more features… If you download and install it, you can import the photo and convert it into another format. It looks too complicated
Speaking of formats, what format is it in? If it is in JPEG that might be the problem.

Yeah, it is in JPEG. Everything on the sprinter's resource is JPEG. what exactly is the problem with JPEG, and how do I fix it?

Well JPEG usually has image compression which can downgrade image quality. This means colors, pixels, etc. can all be changed. This is a huge problem if you are looking to be a perfectionist like me. Usually image compression is only between 90-75% which barely affects quality but sometimes compression can be at 50% which would probably cause the problem. -snip-

tl;dr Change the file format from jpeg to png. You probably wont have as much of a problem. Or it could be that it is your computer.

Every pixel in Scratch is made up of 4 subpixels. This doesn't affect importing images however when exporting images the subpixels also get exported making the image twice as big as it shows unzoomed in on Scratch.
I would greatly appreciate if you were to check of this game I spent months that includes plot and bosses here https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/97452006/ ………………………………………Want a detailed review or idea?
I'm a major fan of Pokemon, Undertale and the Pija and Toast series.
I am doing a shiny scramble of pokemon Pearl. I'm 7 chapters in and on my way to the 2nd gym.

I would recommend using https://www.piskelapp.com/ import your sprite sheet, edit it, then export it to .png . yes it's going to be painful when working with large sprite sheets but this one would work for smaller ones.
I hope this helps!
