The stickies are there to help you and guide you in the suggestions forum.

And if you've read the stickies, there is no need for this topic. Sigton's sticky answers it all: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/215499/ It says that just saying “Support” and “no support” is not adding anything to a suggestion, therefore it's discouraged in forums.

support saying “support” with a reason because reasons help us to understand (why you are supporting)

Yes, saying “support” with a reason is allowed and very encouraged. The OP is talking about if just saying “support” and nothing more is allowed or not.

Yes, I believe that you can say support without reasoning.

The biggest argument against this is that the ST doesn't encourage just saying support without reasoning, but it is allowed and you can do it (and honestly, people shouldn't complain every single time someone does that because it's unnecessary and extra).

For future topics, please don't let the conversation devolve into an argument about whether it is okay to just say “support” or “no support” - just use the report button and let the moderator deal with it. Thanks!
Like a perfectly good topic shouldn't get closed because people have to complain about how others say “support”. But I should stop ranting now lol.

Overall it isn't necessary to give reasoning for saying support imo. But you do have to give reasoning if you say no support.

Sorry this is gonna get closed since it isn't a suggestion.

While you can just say support I feel like it is discouraged. I feel that only one person should ask why they do or don't support. Anything beyond that is spam worse that typing support/no support. In fact I feel that saying please don't just write no/support without asking why they do is worse than typing no/support.

That's fair enough but that should also be discouraged since it takes away from the actual conversation.

If it's not a suggestion, why are you acting like it's a suggestion?

Support.

No support then because a reason should be given.

Well, I guess I should give my opinion on this topic.
I feel like saying “support” is fine, as long as there are decent reasons for why the suggestion would be useful in the first post. It's essentially saying “I agree with your reasoning and I think this should be added”. However, if there aren't any / many reasons in the first post, it's much less helpful. For example, if someone asks for a block to be added without giving examples where it'd be helpful, someone saying “support” isn't that helpful.

No support, on the other hand, is generally not that useful without reasoning because it doesn't help the OP understand what people don't like about the suggestion. It's essentially just “I think this idea is bad” which isn't helpful to anyone.

Yep, this is our position. It's discouraged because we're looking for discussion that helps to develop (and perhaps improve) the suggestion. We're not conducting a survey, lol. On the other hand, it's not something to get all shook up about if somebody does do it. Just ignore it and help keep the discussion on topic.

Thanks - we now return you to your regularly scheduled Suggestion forum section functions.
