The account is actually @follow4follow. And this is a mostly serious account that does f4f.Griffpatch is 1st place in terms of followers. He doesn't do f4f. The user with the most followers that also does f4f is a user named f4f…well that doesn't make sense to me. Why would someone name their account f4f? It contradicts the whole point of Scratch!

that just makes me sad. They could be gaining those followers through the power of CODE!!! But instead they are advertising themselves proudly as follow4follow? - yzyzyz

(we have quoted each other so many times XD) It just really doesn't make sense to me. CONCLUDING STATEMENT- F4F is bad.

I think people should earn followers themselves but a good way to do it would be:
User1: Hey! Want to F4F?
User2: No, I don't do F4F.
User1: Ok I understand.
A bad way would be:
User1: F4F?!?
User2: No, I don't do F4F.
User1: Plz???
User2: No
User1: I'M GONNA REPORT YOU!!!!
User2: That's not a reason to be reported please don't report people for nothing.
Another example that's bad:
User1: I'm following you which means you follow me
User2: That's not how it works
User1: I'M UNFOLLOWING U!!!
Another Example that's good:
User1: Do you do F4F?
User2: No I don't.
User1: Ok.

I honestly wouldn't recommend F4F as you could be tricked. The person could unfollow you while you think you are still being followed by that person.
So it's not the best idea.

They have another account of course, that account was just for people who want to do f4f.
I think that the whole F4F thing is mostly used by people that dont have a lot of followers. And I fear that this motivates these people to instead focus on making amazing art or coding projects, they subject themselves to asking people to follow for follow with them.
Yeah, I agree. You don't need follows, so why do f4f?
My personal opinion on f4f:
F4f can be used to get more follows, but a lot of the time, people who do f4f are just a bit lonely on scratch and want more people to meet them and say hi every once in a while. Those who do f4f can sometimes be annoying, but we should be fine with:
Random user: Do you do f4f?
Me: No, I don't do f4f.
Random user: ok! Sorry.

If people need to feed their fragile senses of self-worth with hollow dopemine rushes, we should let them. However, there should also be a toggleable ‘No F4F’ button on your profile, sort of like the draft button on projects. This could activate an automatic filter in the comments to hold back such comments.

This might be useful since users who beg for F4F use this expression, but what if it's someone discussing it like, “Don't you think F4F is annoying?” and then their comment gets deleted?

That would also be quite easy to bypass. Typos, additional words/letters etc.If people need to feed their fragile senses of self-worth with hollow dopemine rushes, we should let them. F4F should be discouraged but not actually disallowed. This is because while on the one hand, popularity, or “follows”, aren't the point of Scratch, actually disallowing something solely for that reason when it's not really that harmful is kind of harsh. Removing F4Fs for that reason would be like removing RP studios from Scratch.

To me is bad because it not how follow works. You follow someone if you like their project, efforts not by asking you to do it.

Personally, I follow people who actually follow me without asking. I've stopped accepting requests from people who ask for F4F, and I never followed on request.
The only circumstances where I do F4F is if:
A. They didn't ask for it, they just followed me in general
B. They didn't ask for me to follow some other random Scratcher
I'm in the middle of this debate. I do it, but I don't do it on request.

I don't think it is a bad thing if both users do it but if they specifically say no f4f and they do it it can get a bit annoying.

I think that F4F is not good, and should be discouraged. I don't think that it should be not allowed though, unless it is spam. This is acceptable:
This should be discouraged, but still acceptable/allowed:
This should be reported:
That's just what I think, some people have different opinions.
One person: Hey, wanna be friends?
Other person: Sure!
(they follow each other)
This should be discouraged, but still acceptable/allowed:
One guy: F4F?
Other guy: Sure!
(They follow each other)
This should be reported:
Person #1: F4F?
Person #2: Uh, no thanks. I don't do F4F.
Person #1: F4F!!! PLZZZ!!!!
Person #2: I already said no.
Person #1: YOU HAVE TO!!!! I'M REPORTING YOU FOR BEING MEAN!!!!
That's just what I think, some people have different opinions.

Really, f4f just really bugs scratchers that work hard for their followers, For me personally when i see someone that f4f's and they have more followers than me and that don't have very good projects, it kind of angers me that they got more followers when they did nothing but type a few letters on peoples accounts.

I discourage F4F, but I don't see a point in trying to ban it. It's practically impossible to monitor all these “F4F” posts.
