"Stage" sprite name bug
I thing I've discovered a bug that has been causing one of the biggest problems in two of my projects.
Recently, I've been having trouble having a sprite sense a platform - a sprite titled “Stage” that moves around the screen. What I have recently noticed is that with the (blank of blank) block (in the sensing category), I cannot see the “Stage” sprite's properties because of its name (although both the sprite “Stage” and the actual stage appear on the sprite list). Instead of seeing properties such as x position and y position that should appear, the normal scene # and scene name options appear (that refer to the stage).
See this project to see the bug in action, and experiment with block on Sprite20's script page. This isn't a problem in Scratch 1.4, so it shouldn't be a problem with Scratch 2.0 - and as it has broken two of my projects, I can imagine it has broken many others too.

I think in Scratch 1.4 this problem didn't exist because the sprite selection dropdown actually pointed to the sprite object in Squeak. Whereas probably in 2.0 it's just a string. Maybe you shouldn't name it stage after all…

I feel the need to bump this… the bug hasn't been fixed, and the situation has only gotten worse in the latest version(s) of the flash player. Now the background-stage of my project won't update. The Stage and a sprite called Stage should be treated as two separate identities, in order to prevent the breaking of projects made in Scratch 1.4 and earlier! A compromise could be made possible (since I understand the confusion of having a sprite called “Stage” and the actual stage called “Stage”), but just leaving projects like mine broken because of it doesn't seem fair.

it's very easy to rename the sprite, all the reporters connected with said sprite will still function normally.
that being said, it's a big problem.

it is 2022 and there are still some bugs.
one bug that was in one of my projects was, what is your name, it pops up every time I touch the keyboard,
I don't know what is but I put the “what is your name” block, and got rid of it. but it's still there, I refreshed the page and it wont go away
scratch version 3.0

This here is one of the dumbest replies to a bug in the entire forums. For one, you probably didn't even realize that everyone before you was on Scratch 1.4/2.0, which had many different problems from 3.0.
Then you proceed to talk about bugs that aren't related (not like the bug even exists anymore) to the OP's bug. If you had bugs to report, you should've done it in a new topic and not looked for a topic with an ID below the 100s…
