Lua is a lightweight, multi-paradigm programming language designed primarily for embedded systems and clients. Lua is cross-platform, since the interpreter is written in ANSI C, and has a relatively simple C API. Lua was originally designed in 1993 as a language for extending software applications to meet the increasing demand for customization at the time. It provided the basic facilities of most procedural programming languages, but more complicated or domain-specific features were not included; rather, it included mechanisms for extending the language, allowing programmers to implement such features. As Lua was intended to be a general embeddable extension language, the designers of Lua focused on improving its speed, portability, extensibility, and ease-of-use in development. Lua is commonly described as a “multi-paradigm” language, providing a small set of general features that can be extended to fit different problem types. Lua does not contain explicit support for inheritance, but allows it to be implemented with metatables. Similarly, Lua allows programmers to implement namespaces, classes, and other related features using its single table implementation; first-class functions allow the employment of many techniques from functional programming; and full lexical scoping allows fine-grained information hiding to enforce the principle of least privilege. In general, Lua strives to provide simple, flexible meta-features that can be extended as needed, rather than supply a feature-set specific to one programming paradigm. As a result, the base language is light—the full reference interpreter is only about 180 kB compiled—and easily adaptable to a broad range of applications. Lua is a dynamically typed language intended for use as an extension or scripting language and is compact enough to fit on a variety of host platforms. It supports only a small number of atomic data structures such as boolean values, numbers (double-precision floating point and 64-bit integers by default), and strings. Typical data structures such as arrays, sets, lists, and records can be represented using Lua's single native data structure, the table, which is essentially a heterogeneous associative array.Lua is so much better than Scratch, btwWhat's lua?

In short words: the scripting language used in Roblox for a bunch of things.
It's nice as a language, the syntax is not strict at all and you can make some very clean-looking code with it. LÖVE2D is a game engine that uses Lua for it's scripting, you could check that out if you're into game programming (as is the case for most of us here haha)

I decided to play Roblox again, thanks to Ryan's Family Review (my brother watches that alot).
I'm starting a game related to a village filled with animals! If anyone is interested in collaborating, please reply and I'll be happy!

How much free content is there in the game? You can play a lot of other people's games, earn badges, comment on the forums, and dress up your own Robloxian.
Is online play forced?
Yes, you do need to play online, since it's basically a user-generated MMO.
However, sadly, they enforce Builder's Club way too much. Those without BC can only have 1 game running at a time. Robux, the main currency, can be obtained easily by Builder's Club members (there used to be tickets, which were given to NBCs, but they were removed last year), while only NBCs can get them by selling Game Passes.
Roblox is a good introduction to real game developing and marketing, although the community is deviant as the worst parts of DeviantArt (the moderation is stale).

What is everyone thoughts on the Roblox community? I think it was decent around the time I left (September 2015). Some of the worst things happening I remember is the creator of speedrun 4 buying someone else's speedrun and adding nothing but gamepasses it, copy and paste messages everywhere in comments (I only fell for one…), someone posting a comment saying I was mean along with some other people however it was a misunderstanding and we had fun afterwards, and lastly some guy begging to be my boyfriend in a minigames game…
Also what are some of your best memories? Mine are having the kanto starters as a butterfree that can fly, building bubbles and Flying Fire Snails in this one game and riding them, and well that's really it. I guess playing quest for the orbs 3 (I don't remember what it was called or who it was by but I remeber it was the thrid game in an orb collecting series with Dr.Rad's lab) was pretty fun except for the getting a better glove challenge where you had to fight a boss that seemed to take no damage.

Those without BC can only have 1 game running at a time.I don't really care about my own world, no one plays it anyways. Also, I'm not much of a builder.

I cope now by participating in events to get clothing and stuff, as well as getting free stuff in the catalog.
(i have like 50 clothing items but only use 10)

IF YOU GET MESSAGES FROM USERS TALKING ABOUT FREE ROBUX, IT IS A LIE/SCAM
Only roblox can actually give out free robux. This is in the form of SURVEYS. Only take the surveys that are sent to you via your messages. In your inbox, go to the NEWS SECTION.

Not necessarily. Only ROBLOX can MAKE new currency, but users can move it around. Some users do charity giveaways where they distribute to the NBC's - these are not typically scams. The Robux Generators are, but a simple giveaway is not (unless it asks for something in return)One thing to remember. It's a good site - you just have to be careful. I like a lot of the games on Roblox, but most of the community is toxic IMHO.Yeah. Seems like half of the active and chatting population are snobby elitist BC's. I hate them, being a F2P player. (Basically, I won't ever put in MY money to ROBLOX. If I make something and I get enough income a month to sustain OBC with DevEx, I would do so - but the moment I couldn't, the sub would end.) That said, if you look in the right places, you can find many nice people. I have several OBC's on my friends list that have loaned me R$ on more than one occasion so I could purchase source assets to reverse-engineer.

Does anyone wish they'd go back in time to when the community was better? I wish sometimes. I was a NBC back in that era and nobody really cared how bad my avatar looked. I used to have a ton of great roblox friends. (I probably forgot some of them and some of them became snobs so I stopped being friends with them.) There were also a lot of great games back then, I remember playing Survive the Disasters, some kinda exploding game the name of which i forgot, Flood Escape, The original Kingdom Life RP, and more. Heh, fun times.. Now roblox is just a place full of brats and idiots and not very many good games. The good games I can think from on top of my head are Pokemon Brick Bronze, Jailbreak, and those Tycoons where you can actually place stuff. Sadly, the only places where I can actually find decent people from the community are in the small RP games.
