Should I deal with problems in my game (such as bullying) or let the ST handle it?

I'm making a multiplayer game that has chat, but i want it to be safe. I need to know if i should deal with problems such as bullying and sharing personal info in my game myself or leave it to the scratch team? The ST has more experience with dealing with these problems than me, but they're already dealing with scratch problems and i could just do it myself. I just don't wanna make any mistakes and have a troublemaker running around my game and causing problems.

You can make a whitelist chat that only allows users to say a few things from a list of preselected messages, that prevents users from saying anything inappropriate.

lh70 / nora/tobi / she-they pronouns / pansexual-demisexual / 14 / sagittarius / furry / artist / intp / stop-motion films / lbp / fall out boy / panic! at the disco / twenty one pilots / stranger things / a series of unfortunate events

Right, and if you see anything inappropriate, tell the ST.

If someone is bullying someone else or they are using inappropriate language, yes, you should report them to the ST. But if you have a whitelist, that won't happen.

If you use a good whitelist it is completely impossible for this to happen

Even if you have a good whitelist, bullying and offensive comments can still happen. Say you had the word “annoying” in your whitelist. The word can be used well, e.g “This enemy is so annoying” but it can also be used as “You are so annoying”. So what is the better course of action? Remove “annoying” from the whitelist OR take action, for example muting the offensive player.

For the OP's question, I suggest you take action. You will be able to deal with it much faster, and if it's that severe, the ST will deal with it more severely later.

This topic is from August. The OP's question has likely been answered already. It's great that you're trying to help, but make sure you check the time of the last post to you don't bump old topics. Thanks!

And all the world over, each nation's the same,
They've simply no notion of playing the game.
They argue with umpires, they cheer when they've won,
And they practice beforehand, which ruins the fun!

I've seen a few chat projects lately, did the rules change or are mods allowing them anyway?

Chat rooms without a whitelist aren't allowed, to be clear. If you see any that don't follow that requirement, please report them.

Thread is old though, so I'll close.
