hah i have an awful tendency to make my characters seem OP which is really cringy…

i guess Terry doesn't have any offensive OR defensive powers (besides general magic that everyone can do). technically there's defensive because he can run super fast to escape things, i guess…? then to make up for that he can make people feel PAIN :D. i mean like there's a curse for that (AHEMcrucio) that he's pretty good at but he's better at making people feel PAIN :D by annoying them to death
wow Terry is such a negatively designed character. he's a protagonist but he has almost NO positive qualities that i bring up. he's not super good at magic (he's better than average, but not for a hero), he's really freakin annoying/arrogant/buttholish, etc. haha
though i think he's mainly portrayed as a butthole in Firelight because Firelight is narrated by Pascal and Pascal hates Terry.

DRACKHAVER MAGICIAN'S ACADEMY
aka American Hogwarts that's not Ilvermorny
actually it's less like Hogwarts than Ilvermorny is
It's more like… just your average boarding school. Except with magic. like theres no ‘houses’ or anything (but if there were… Scorpio and Eric would be Gryffindor, Pascal would be Ravenclaw)

So Drackhaver is hidden in a vast forest with mountains nearby, i guess. there's like this huge campus, with the main school building (where they take lessons ‘n’ stuff), which is this kewl silver spire, in the middle. there's 7 dorms with different ‘elements’ or something and really corny names (Aquendolf, Chrystaile, Xanfurrel, Orchileafen, Fernfyre, Stellabessa, Neonus). there's other stuff too, like buildings for the teachers, a healing center/hospital/whatever, a library of course because otherwise Pascal might kill someone, studying areas???, and a heck ton of open space where students can practice spells, run around like maniacs, and play Snowball Combat (something Eric and Terry made up, which is pretty much snowball fights… except involving magic so it's more violent). theres no Quidditch btw. theres actually not really any sports. maybe i shoulda added that. i think magicians mainly just play regular sports with a bit of magic added. but like i know nothing about sports so. eh.

I guess unlike Hogwarts, Drackhaver isn't really the only school magicians in one area can go. It's just the REALLY high-level stuff. except most of the students are just rich and not actually good at magic. (you get into the REALLY high-level schools by either being really good at magic or being rich. or maybe your family just caring a lot for your education and paying a heck ton even though they're not rich. so if Drackhaver knows that you're super good then you don't pay as much haha.) because theres lots of public schools for magic, and there's also other places across the world like Drackhaver. and Drackhaver isn't even necessarily the best, it's just considered the best in North America. or maybe even just america. who knows. (when they got expelled, they went to a school called Cassek for a few days; Cassek is pretty high-level, but it's not as good as Drackhaver. especially the food. the food sucks like typical school cafeteria food. i might cut that part out, though, cause that's like… what the heck was i thinking???)

btw almost no dark magicians trained at Drackhaver. so it has a really good reputation. thats why Renx got super ticked off when Syano went to Drackhaver. most of the adult protagonists went to Drackhaver too, with the exception of Juliana. (I think Ada went for a few later years. i forget. but anyway she has this weird backstory or something. and she teaches at Drackhaver anyway)

Spore is a… team? organization? thing? i sound like supernova now?… dedicated to stopping dark magic. or something like that. yeah that sounded SUPER corny. it's comprised of 14 members (originally 8, then 9, then 14). they pretty much fly around ('fly' as in… like some genius magician invented robotic wings) in these cool ‘uniforms’ that are more like armor and shoot people with wands haha. no seriously though they're pretty much just a team of important protagonists, the most important being, of course, Scorpio, Pascal, and Eric. oh and they have code names and colors and symbols. yah. so basic info here:

“THE 3 WONDERS OF CERULENE AND VYROLIAN”
k that sounds cringy haha. i just came up with that name.
1) The Flying Mountains
As the name suggests, these are… mountains that ‘fly.’ well they dont really fly, they kinda just float up in the clouds. so i guess Cerulene, Iannon, Vyrolian, and Qerio decided “hey lets go exploring in the SKYYY” and they found Mount Vyssinias. which kinda sucks for living on because it's all daggers of rock and you can't really grow much up there so they just decided to keep it quiet and not tell anyone about it. then they found Poertans, Citriluna, Asimay, and Mauven, which they told everyone about. and then everyone was like “YAY LETS BUILD THINGS ON THESE MOUNTAINS AND HAVE PEOPLE LIVE THERE!!!” except Poertans was pretty much like Vyssinias and it kinda sucked for living on. and then they found Praseia and Kyanne, which are connected and form a really freakin long valley with different sorta ecosystems within. except they were like “gosh this place is so beautiful, lets not tell anyone about it.” then it got invaded by dark wizards. but then the dark wizards were like “dude what are we gonna do with this place” so they abandoned it. then after all the Dragonbloods died except for Cerulene and Iannon, they dug this gigantic tunnel in Vyssinias that led into a throne room and then they sat in the throne room in a coma for 8 thousand years until the protagonist trio came along and they made Eric kill them.
2) The Memory Catcher
so this one they didn't find. one day Vyrolian was like “i wanna make this amazing device that saves memories.” so cerulene and vyrolian made this amazing device that saves memories. it's like this staff thing with a ring at one end, in which you… ‘hold the memory?’ yerp. then they didn't really do that much significant stuff with it. so then Cerulene had it with her when she and Iannon went in a coma in Vyssinias. then in 2016 eric goes “dude i'm gonna break my dad out of jail” and then scorpio's like “use the MEMORY CATCHER” so they go on a hunt for the Memory Catcher. then they get really heckin lost and Supernova and this magical giant cat named Volexie come along and show them to Vyssinias, where they get the Memory Catcher from Cerulene, except then Cerulene's like “YOU MUST KILL US” and makes Eric stab Iannon. and then the Memory Catcher turns out to be really significant because they use it to kinda stop Sygmius from… returning to power? i won't say how they do it. but then all that turns out to be a failure because then Sygmius returns to power anyway. yerp.
3) Faanos
so Faanos is a sword. which is pretty boring because nO ONE except for Renx uses swords in the trilogy haha. swords are outdated. they use laser guns and bombs and stuff*. and of course MAGIC. anyway though all the Dragonbloods are immortal until someone kills them. except they can't commit suicide or make someone else stab them. but Cerulene's like “heck no, i'm stuck in this stupid red mountain with no one to kill me. so i'll make a sword that people can kill me with.” and thus Faanos was made. and then she made Eric stab Iannon with Faanos and they died. no not Eric. Eric didn't die. then in Synchronize, the Memory Catcher suddenly turns into Faanos in Eric's hands and he's like “OH HOLY CABBAGES, I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE A SWORD.” except theres this kewl star thingy on the crossguard or whatever you call it that always points north. idk what they'll do with it yet but i guess it's of some significance because it's on the cover of Synchronize…?

*this is why Technopaths are useful. some genius i guess invented a spell that turns your wand into a laser gun. except it's * because you cant cast other spells in laser gun mode, so Cameron made these gloves that let you blast lasers (and potions :D) out of your fingers. as for the bomb thing, i think i mentioned before that Renx bombed Aefeld. yayyy. i kinda learned a lesson from another story i wrote before in which they're like “it's 2015 and we're using glowy swords and wearing clunky plate armor. also, i'm a scrawny 10-year-old who's never even played any kind of sport, let alone used a sword, and suddenly i'm a pro at sword fighting. ALSO, i could just shoot everyone with bullets made of light because i have light powers, except i prefer to use a glowy sword. i can also turn my glowy sword into a machine gun, but i prefer to use it in glowy sword mode. not only that, but everyone else does that too.”

WANDS
i've been having an extreme creativity block so i haven't really done anything :/
so. wands. idk if i've mentioned them before, actually.
and before anyone thinks "WHOA WHOA WHOA YOU'RE SOOOO COPYING HARRY POTTER":

2) Wands are a classic fantasy thing…?
3) eh at least it's better than copying /cough/ Twilight
so. All magicians get a wand. it's not like only magicians with major powers get them. nope. every magician has the right to a wand. except Drackhaver was like “Under 13 and have a wand? Nice. Leave it at home. ain't allowed on campus.” but then Spore decided to go “eh” and have wands on campus even though only 2 members are 13+ in the first book. Anyway aside from that… i lied. the government is like “NOO if you have a REALLY BAD criminal record and you're a dark wizard you're not allowed to have a wand!” and they made a Wand Registration Department or something that made super strict registration rules. But then Nimbus Cobrask came along and said, “Don't worry, my fellow Buttholes, I can make the finest quality wands for y'all too and never tell the government.” so all the Buttholes aka Teleias got wands from Nimbus Crowbath, who became a Master of Mindscapes.
Nimbus explained the process of making a wand to Pascal and Eric, but i won't put that here cause it's mainly fluff.
now about… wands themselves? instead of the legal stuffuff? yerp. so. wands have a base color, which is gold, silver, bronze, or black, and a marking. the marking is like this weird pattern on the wand that makes it UNIQUE :D. and the marking can be any color. just… not the same color as the base. i mean that's possible because the marking is engraved. but it's ugly. also the color doesn't mean * except for appearance. people thought that black means dark magic, gold means QUALITY, silver means PRETTY GOOD, bronze means meh. but that's not true. Scorpio and Pascal have black wands, Eric has a bronze one. so STOP STEREOTYPING :D. yeah.
also if you have a SPECIAL :D marking, your wand can be super POWERFUL!
and if you use a bunch of wands at the same time, you can go INSANE

TERRY SORAN
aka Terrydactyl Dinosoran.
as i said earlier he's sort of negatively described, but he's actually a decent person… i guess? he's proud to be a Stormsprinter, and is very determined to be ze best Stormsprinter. or like. maybe almost as good as Aulus, the Stormsprinter Dragonblood. anyways. he has this rivalry with Pascal (and a bit with Cameron) because he was a sort of jerk to him when they were younger. ya know, because Terry's sort of a stereotypical ‘cool kid’ and Pascal's a stereotypical ‘nerd.’ or like. they seemed like that. but tell me what sort of cool kid gets stabbed in the neck by a zooping phoenix.
so during spore's first training mission, Terry gets captured by Aldinax. and. uhm. Aldinax makes a phoenix stab Terry's neck with its claws or beak or something??? and then it heals him because it's a phoenix? except he's almost dead so the phoenix uses up all its life energy. and yes apparently phoenixes can die. so it dies. and then its spirit makes a home out of Terry's neck. so then he has minor healing powers. and a pet dead phoenix. he names his pet dead phoenix Lielle. yerp.
Strengths: athletic, confident, determined
Weaknesses: arrogant, a bit of a jerk sometimes

HOPE DENNIS
aka Spore's mom, The Girl Who Draws On Her Arms And Legs, and Terry's girlfriend.
super optimistic (i mean her names hope anyway haha) and bubbly. also defensive, thus earning the title of “Spore's mom.” even though everyone acts like scorpio's the leader, and shes only 13 in the first book. she actually doesn't do much except for make sure everyone's safe, maybe a bit of healing, draw, date Terry, etc. you can tell shes not super important/favored because she hasn't sustained any serious injuries yet
Strengths: optimistic, determined, loyal, creative
Weaknesses: too optimistic, overdefensive, sometimes absentminded

KATE DENNIS
Hope's younger sister. another sort of useless character. she loves ice cream cake, is scared of heights, and has a crush on Eric. except then Eric does stupid things and Kate realizes that he's not worth wasting effort over. but shes still not too fond of heights. most useful thing shes done so far is go into Aefeld for a… ‘peace meeting?’ because she looks like an Aefelder and she's a smooth talker. a bit of an exception to the importance/injury severity correlation because she got mauled by a werewolf and then– the very next day– got severe burns all over her legs. but she's not super important.
Strengths: loyal, social…?
Weaknesses: bit of a wimp, over obsesses over certain things (AHEMeric)

LIAM TORZEAL
oh hey finally a sort of important character
Pascal's best friend. or like. former best friend. before Scorpy and Eric came along. (sorry Liam.) hes sorta a butthole about Eric and Scorpy actually. not in a nasty way. he just teases them a lot. he helped Pascal kill Chronoesia by making a giant chandelier fall on Chronoesia…? and then he also saved Pascal from a giant darkness arrow. won't say much else except for the fact that he doesn't break the I/IS correlation because the giant darkness arrow hit him instead of Pascal.
Strengths: bold, …loyal again? but in a sorta different way? like me?…, independent i guess when it comes to opinions and decisions
Weaknesses: a bit stubborn, can be a grouch/jerk, gets jealous easily

CAMERON TORZEAL
Liam's younger but hecka more important brother.
made all of Spore's armor pretty much (with help from Rievan, the Vioxyist Dragonblood), besides the enchantments. he's one of the more developed characters; in the beginning, hes pretty much a coward who wants to be a hero but winds up just hiding behind Liam. afterwards though, as he realizes his talents with technology, he becomes exponentially more confident till he's just pure salt and chainsaws. then Liam almost dies. after that he's not so salty or obsessed with destroying machines. Follows the I/IS correlation; got hit by 3 level-4 stunners in the leg and then got a spear stuck in that same leg.
Strengths: smart, sorta defensive in a good way, actually pretty open-minded about himself so he easily learns from his mistakes
Weaknesses: overly negative, doesn't pay attention, holds grudges (so he's not open-minded about other people)

SYANO RHYNVOX
welp finally the first adult Spore member. also a super important one.
Syano starts off seeming like… well, a teacher. except hes that one teacher everyone loves. then he's like “guess what Eric… I KNEW YOUR DAD.” so he kinda helps Spore a lot (hes almost like a counselor for them) until Synchronize, when he's invited to actually join Spore. he's chill but primarily introverted; loves coffee, donuts, and dragons. explained stuff about him already. won't rewrite all that. kind of follows the I/IS correlation… he pretty much almost got chopped to bits at the end even though hes not even the most important character. (one month in a coma. then he wakes up and starts being hysterical and oh i won't get into the rest.)
Strengths: wise, good with people, also develops pretty easily (he used to be sorta shy and more of a follower than a leader)
Weaknesses: tries to be immune to sadness– so pretty much unhopeful, gives into guilt easily (like Eric)

TRANSPORTATION
no broomsticks. i had broomsticks at first but they were useless and i stopped writing about them so i just got rid of them. soooo wizards/witches dont ride broomsticks.

Dragons. though it's kinda uncommon. but it's not exactly weird for a magician to ride dragons. (people domesticate wyverns too, but they're too small to ride)

Pegasi/unicorns/alicorns. which aren't very popular ‘cause they’re not very fast or convenient. they're faster than average horses but still. they're not that great. some alicorns are trained for battle though, because they're stronger than the other two MAGICAL PONIEZ horses; also they have pointy horns and can fly.

Actually, a lot of magicians own cars. there seems to be this thing about “doing non-magician activities for fun.” just… they probably enchant the cars to drive by themselves.

sooo the primary form of transportation for magicians is teleporting. it's not perfect though. for one it might cause nausea. it most likely won't, but… theres a possibility. especially for those who haven't teleported early in their life. (so if you've never teleported and you're like. 20 i guess. and then you teleport for the first time…. you might throw up.) also theres something called a Maximum Teleportation Distance (MTP). it's exactly what it sounds like. it's the maximum distance you can teleport at once. some people have a higher or lower MTP. it generally depends on your age. the older you get, the bigger your MTP gets. until a certain age i guess. 30-something maybe. idk. ALSO teleporting can hurt you further if you're already bleeding. i mean a papercut is fine. buuut Spore members get worse things than papercuts. (speaking of papercuts… text to speech can pronounce ‘Volioccisaur’ properly but not ‘papercut’….?)

then theres school buses. no one uses em. except for Drackhaver students.
