Does anyone like to bake out there in the Scratchy world?
Hi, I'm FayFoo. I love to bake!!!! I don't get to very often, but I am really great at it when I do. My favorite things to bake are cupcakes. I love to make cupcakes because they are a.) delicious b) creative & c) absolutely, postively amazing!!!! I love to decorate desserts because I love how cool they can look after just a while with a piping bag and spatula!
I also just love to be totally hands on in the kitchen. Cooking or baking. One day I will open a restaurant/bakery of my own. I can't wait till then. If there are any Scratchy bakers out there, I would really love to get to know you! I am always looking for more friends. Well, please comment on this, I can't wait to see what the world of Scratch has to say.

I frequently make banana bread to combat my family's constant supply of black bananas. However, I love making profiteroles and I baked a millionaire's flapjack for my birthday.

I wish I could bake more frequently.
One thing I forgot to mention is that Cake Boss, or Buddy Valastro, is totally my hero.

I love baking/cooking but I don't know how to do most of it.
The upsetting thing is that my sister knows how, and I don't.

Well, I recommend Cake Boss and Take Home Chef if you have Netflix and Food Network, the cooking shows on the Travel Channel, and the cooking shows on TLC if you have satellite. If you have neither or have both or one of those, I know I always enjoy reading a cookbook and I have learned a lot from doing so. Also, a website I like to look at for cooking and/or baking is allrecipes.com. It is chock full of wonderful recipes. I hope this helps you, ImagineIt.

Anyway, the flours quote is from my all-time-favourite movie Stranger Than Fiction. it's a PG-13 though

@NeilWest Cake Boss? Buddy Valastro? He is an Italian baker in New Jersey and he has a few TV shows on Netflix and on TLC.
If you look him up on Google, you will find more info.
Cool about the pictures.
@ImagineIt I am glad I was of help.
Just speaking from experience.

Sadly baking has yet to bend to my will. I'm an excellent cook though (and so modest, I know!).

I tried to make hardtack once. Er, let's just say it turned out as the equivalent of a very large and dry cracker… XD

I was working at T in the Park and a pocket full of hardtack kept me going! Hard stuff to eat, sure, but it certainly helped keep me on an even keel throughout one of the longest weekends of my life. You wouldn't like me when I'm hungry!

I'm trying my hand at microwave recipes for baked goods since I don't have a working oven. I managed to make an interesting egg-less chocolate banana cake, but next on my list of stuff to try is a chocolate mug cake - sadly, not much luck there because mine always seems to “explode” a bit in the microwave.

mmmmBrowniesI made award-winning brownies recently. 3rd place and they auctioned for $75! It was for charity though so I did not get any cash, but that's okay. That was when I got my first baking award…

How do you make hardtack? I have seen it before, but never attempted or eaten… I call it heart-attack because I thought I heard someone call it that when I was younger. lol

I should really try making a sweet one sometime.

I guess it really depends on the microwave specs and how it cooks things. A microwave uses wave energy so it doesn't heat up food like an over does (which uses dry heat and usually heats up from the top and bottom). I've had more luck with developing microwave recipes for general cooking (like 5-min noodle soups) than microwave baking, though. ^^;I'm trying my hand at microwave recipes for baked goods since I don't have a working oven. The banana cake recipe was pretty easy - it's just one whole mashed banana, some flour, and cocoa powder (or often times I substitute it with powdered hot chocolate or Nutella) mixed together. The amount of flour added depends on the size of the banana, I just add until I get the desired batter consistency. Sometimes I add milk if I want the batter to be a bit more “creamy”. Then I just pop it in a microwave-safe container.
The cake recipe has been a challenge, though. The batter bakes okay, but it seems to explode from the bottom up during the microwaving process. I have a feeling it's because of the mug's shape.

That is cool! Wow, I really would never have thought of that. Earlier, I was talking with my dad about how I really want a certified kitchen for a summer job for myself, and I would make and sell pies and cupcakes, and I asked if he would ever buy me one and he said he would buy me anything I wanted with my mom's permission. Eep! I probably won't get one soon though. And plus, it would be a cute little shed in my backyard with only delivery service….. Oh boy. Wishful thinking. lol but I may just be one step closer to getting a certified kitchen! Woo! (sorry that was way off topic) Anyways, tell me if you get any more cool microwave recipes! ☻I guess it really depends on the microwave specs and how it cooks things. I make a rockin' batch of chocolate chip cookies
Other than that, no.
I also like making breakfast sandwiches, but those are easy. And that's not baking either
