She mentions the fact that there had to be other gems there to protect her, to keep that sort of thing from happening. When people found out that she was shattered, they assumed it was the sword because the last thing all of them saw was Rose attacking with the sword.

If diamonds are so powerful, how did just a meager Rose Quartz defeat such a powerful leader? Pink Diamond could have stopped her, and even if she was distracted, Rose's sword probably wouldn't be enough to defeat her. It had to be another diamond, because another gem that wasn't as powerful and/or more powerful than a diamond wouldn't be able to even poof her. It would probably just end up being a scratch or something, and she would have probably poofed Rose right then and there like she did to both Zircons.

The reason I thought of is that Rose and PD had a relationship before the rebellion.
PD couldn't have done anything to Rose even if she wanted to. Either that or rose is so short compared to her that she didn't even notice Rose until it was too late. The sword is long enough to get through one of PD's toes, and that would be enough.

But diamonds are supposed to be very powerful. Even if Rose was a powerful warrior, and her sword was too, then how could it have been strong enough to destroy a being of a high athority?
Rose might have been a warrior, and a skilled, strong one at that, but that doesn't nessicarily mean that she was strong enough to take down a diamond.
