Sure, I'm on board with this.
I like 3.0 the same way I like the new Rodrick; I don't.

Yeah. Why do they bother to make a new vesion of Scratch? I like Scratch just the way it is.

Getting away from Flash was a big part of it.

Some of you have probably already seen this, but the 3.0 demo is now using the 2.0 colours so it looks like they won't change after all.
Nop, this was a “fake”
check the Scratch 3.0 topic, it was a userscript

GOD I TROLLED MYSELF SO HARD

There's nobody I hate more than myself. That being said, if we could get 2.0 colors and block-thickness that'd be really nice.

I support and completely agree with the fact the blocks are too big.

I know it's Scratch 3.0 but just because it's a new version, doesn't mean drastic changes have to be made to the appearance of the blocks. I think they should be kept more or less the same but look “cleaner” and have slight changes to the borders.

Blocks that are too big could make Scratch harder to use because the blocks fill too much space, so a lot of scrolling would be required.

I agree that they would be to big, but if it's like in 2.0, you should be able to zoom out, seeing more of the project, and having the blocks be smaller. Honestly, I don't see any major concerns with the new block style, but there is no reason to change the current style.

Welcome to The Ultimate Scratch 3.0 Block Style Protest Megathread!
This is the Scratch 3.0 Github page: https://llk.github.io/scratch-gui
The problem with Scratch 3.0 is the big, chunky blocks!!!!!!!!!!
If you hate them, you came to the right place!!!!!!!!!

Why I hate them:
1. You need to do a lot of scrolling.
True
2. The blocks take up a lot of space.
Isn't this the same as the first point (Still True)
3. The text is tiny compared to the size of the blocks. The options below might be better:
4.1. Make the text bigger.
4.2. Make the blocks smaller or
Yes please (4.2)
4.3. Make an option called “computer/tablet (small style)” and “smartphone (big style)”.
4. I would like to have the Scratch 2.0 style back!!!!!!!!!!
Umm… what?
5. The events section in Scratch 3.0 is the same colour as the control section in Scratch 2.0 and vice versa. I would like them to stay in Scratch 2.0 format!!!!!!!!!
It was also this way in Scratch 1.4, but I still support
6. The custom blocks are a weird pink colour!!!!!!!!!!
The pink is okay…

Some images and comments from stickfiregames:

Time to bump up my padding rant again… with a picture:

here's how much space we could save by getting rid of the ridiculous padding on each block.

Also, why is there no visual difference between string and number inputs? That's probably also been said in the first 100 pages, but I still haven't read them all.

stickfiregames wrote:

Maybe it's already been said (I'm not going to read nearly 100 pages right now), but why is the text so tiny and the blocks so huge?

The default zoom level is nearly twice as high as in 2.0, so there's going to be a lot more scrolling going on. If you zoom out to the same height as the old blocks, the text becomes nearly unreadable.

It could be worse though:

that is just zoomed out be one level - I had to zoom out by 4 to get to the same size as 2.0 blocks.

Maybe I'm just being picky (scrolling isn't too bad), but I don't get why there needs to be so much padding.

Please support.

Support making the blocks smaller though

For example:

I think it should be like this, and also have correct colours for events and control, custom blocks should be purple, better font (the font on the 3.0 blocks are generic, it should be something more interesting, but not bad (bad fonts include Comic Sans or Impact), perhaps the Scratch font) and not flat design.

I thought it was once a day? Either way, it just prevents over-repetition and it doesn't seem to be going overboard. </offtopic>
