ScratchMail! A revelutionary project! Need designers and one programmer.

ScratchMail!

A revelutionary project!
Send mails to every scratch user in the world.

Features:
-Easy send and read options
-You can send mail to every user in the world that use scratch
-Every email will be stored on the cloud server, and will be easy to access
-It will be possible to report mails, and banning
-All bad words will be censored when reading

If you already have been on scratchMail you have probably seen that you only can write mail,
and not read them.
So i need a bit help programming, and the design is ugly so i can need a bit help with that too.

How to applicate for programmer
(Just fill out the application below)
How long have you been programming on scratch?

How old are you?

How experienced are you with variables (1/10)?

How to applicate for designer
Have you been designing before this?

Example of your work (link)

What tool are you using?

I hope someone will apply and make this just not WIP, but fully realeased!

I predict that this project will be banned and removed just like an unmoderated chat board project.

I agree with BoltBait. It's a nice idea (Before the beta I had planned one myself), but really it's just another chatroom with even fewer moderation capabilities.

well, yes we this is kinda like a chatroom, but fewer moderation capabilities? nope!
ScratchMail 0.3 will have a option to report, ban and even remove the messages to a player, and after the realese i will pick som thrustworthy moderators that can ban and delete messages.

Plus, how much harm could be done? If that's what you think, then I guess i'm gonna ban scratch from all computers. But, true, it may be a huge task.

Hi, I am a person! (I'm pretty sure I'm a person. Can someone confirm that I am a person for me?)

I was going to make a ScratchMail, but mine would be different as it would need a moderator to approve a message before it would get sent. I would suggest you do that so you do not get banned.

In scratchMail 0.3 (or probably 0.4) it will not be able to read any innoapritote (or however you write it, english is not my native langune) message without censoring

Well I guess I didn't think about moderators, since commercial mail systems don't have them. But it would be a slow process, wouldn't it? If every message needs to get checked by a real person, it could take a while. And the problem with keeping this private and automated is that I could say something like: tlangster's projects are horrible. They need to quit Scratch and get a life! (Sorry tlangster, you were the next person up the list) And if the moderator happens to dislike tlangster too… it could still get through. I'm not against a project like this, but you should expect this to be removed. Sorry I have been trying to come up with ways other than a safe chat to keep socializing projects safe. If I come up with anything that the ST approves, I'll post it here.

You don't have to be so mean to yourself, MelonInc. But I do agree on the ideas you have - this project is not safe.

Great idea, but hard 2 censor. I think a mod-review system would fix that though

How about private messaging with a list of usable words? This would eliminate most forms of cursing or bullying.

“You have the intelligence of paste” (Idk who originally used that as an example, but its pretty much the perfect example) Hurtful but uncensorable.

And yeah, now and days if some1 said that 2 me I would just shrug it off, but when I was 5 (and some scratchers are) I would be in tears right now

It seems that some rules (not all of them) are as follows: scratchers communications must be
1) readable by all other scratchers
2) understandable by most of scratchers
3) recorded in an “log” that is readable by everybody and understandable by most of them.
4) must not be about topics that are **usually** transforming people into arguments “machines”.

So, one way to do this would be to put all messages in the comment thread of the application, not in the application itself.
The application would only serve to send the message “you have new mail” + unique id number put in the comment thread. You can structure the comment thread with one sub-thread for each user.

This would allow you to test the usefulness of such application in specific cases, such as for teams creating some new game, or teams creating new stories, …

I would encourage all of you to collaborate on such project
… if the scratch team do not see any overlooked problem.
Indeed, I do not know all good practices and rules that makes the scratch website so interesting for 5 to 77 yeras-old creative people …
