I am trying to make a chat box for a game I am making but I don't know how! can someone please help me?

Do you already have an engine for sending messages, and if so, is it whitelist based?

I didn't think you could create any “free chat” project.

You're not allowed to create a chat that allows bad words, but with just a very simple whitelist script, you can make a safe chat.

Edit: It's almost been two and a half years, so the above information is no longer correct.
As of 2019, cloud chat projects, even with whitelists, are not allowed by the scratch team, except for if users can only post messages from a list of specific full phrases/sentences. Remember to read the time something was posted before listening to it, because the world changes.

If it's for a game and there's one bot (not two real people talking) then just use data lists!

I just want an input box so your character can say what you time. It is a single player game and there are bots who pretend to be “other players”.

I think you need to give more details of what you're trying to achieve. Asking for text via the ask block is trivial but is that not what you want?

Now I figured out how to do it.

You could make a button that when you click it, it makes it say something.

That way, you can have multiple like, no , yes , team, etc.

there is a YouTube channel called coding with dad and they made a video about how to make a chat window/box. i hope this helps.
