AiyanMind was the exception to the no more hiring rule.
Sorry, but we are not looking for anyone else right now.
Keep an eye on the studio though; something may open up when we finish with the engine!

I took a look at your programs and I was VERY impressed with your work.
Though I imagine you have an extensive knowledge in physics engines, I found that your projects consisted of mostly pen-related programs unlike Stranded.
I accept you application, but I'd like to know specifically what you're able to do with Stranded.
Some things that will be helpful are: AI programmers, UI programmers, script optimization, or just general programmer that could deal with in-game abilities.
Also it will help that you are able to understand complex and relatively documented scripts.
If you have any questions when it comes to the code, ask nickydroids or JGames.
A pleasure to have you onboard!

Thank you,

It is true most of my projects are in pen, but that only means using sprites will be even easier
Used to create tons of projects using sprites, but now I have only shared my top projects. Also, I am working on a Vector-based Tower Defense game right now using sprites, so don't worry about it.

I am comfortable with essentially all aspects of Scratch programming. I have programmed AI, but not complex neural-network type learning systems. Although I have done research and read many articles in that area. I do read lots of articles on coding, and I learn all the time. I don't think I will be able to optimize scripts very well, although I have developed very efficient engines on my own. Though I guess that doesn't really count because I don't do it often. Basically my motto:
if it works, then do it
Hehe. I will definitely be sure to ask nickydroids and JGames if I need help.
Now that we got that over with. Do you have any assignments?

EDIT:
(if forgot to add)
  • Looking at your game, I could've helped with the platformer engine, but I think you already have that covered
  • Perhaps a better UI seems a bit messy
  • Your game looks very promising
  • Basically anything you want me to do haha

Not really…
There is an assignment section in the first message but it is not much.
Right now, we are just trying to get things back on track and working again.

Important for programmers
- I don't want the construction in the game to be like Minecraft in the way that the player places down tiles and I don't want the player to be able to equip sand, stone, coal ore, etc. since there is really no reason to. I think that shelters should be craft-able and place-able to appear similar to the way the trees are.

Important for programmers, animators, pixel artists
-I don't want many strictly melee weapons (sword, knife, etc.) Since there won't be many hostile creatures, strictly offensive melee weapons would be obsolete. Weapons like bows and javelins are fine for killing birds and fish, and knives are fine for tools. I think that knifes should be hold-able and do some damage and javelins could be used as a melee weapon as well as ranged but most animals should avoid the player anyway.

Important for programmers, pixel artists
- The ores I'd like to have in the game are:
- Coal for torches (Complete)
- Phosphorus for matches (Incomplete)
- Sulphur for matches (Incomplete)
- Copper for flashlight and maybe other electrical items (Complete)
- Iron for tools and arrows (Complete)

- The animals I'd like to have in the game are:
- Crab for food (Incomplete)
- Seagull for food and feathers (Incomplete)
- Lizards for food (Incomplete)
- Various fish for food (Incomplete)
- Shark as hostile water creature (Incomplete)

-The plants I'd like to have in the game are:
- Grass for aesthetics, food? (Incomplete)
- Palm trees for wood (Incomplete)
- Wild berries for food (Incomplete)
- Moss for shelters (Incomplete)
- Orange/apple trees for food (Incomplete)

-The foods I'd like to have in the game are:
- Apples from trees (Incomplete)
- Cooked and raw fish from fish and sharks (Incomplete)
- Cooked and raw seagull (Incomplete)
- Cooked and raw crab (Incomplete)
- Berries (Incomplete)
- Cooked and raw lizard (Incomplete)

-The tools/weapons I'd like to have in the game are:
- Hatchet (Axe) for cutting wood
- Bow for hunting
- Spear (javelin) for hunting
- Crossbow for underwater hunting
- Fishing rod for catching fish
- Knife for crafting
- Flint Striker for starting fire

Still waiting on confirmation of Nickydroids, but thought I might start work anyway:
Requested changelist for next Stranded update:
• Saving Worlds, Inventory, etc.
• New item icons
• Pause screen, with options and saving.
• Placing code for campfire - in the future can be used for things like shelters, etc.
• Options screen with more options
• Credits screen
• More items - orange, leaf, bottles, pickaxes
• Slightly updated menu UI
Maybe we will have infinite worlds

Everything seems very reasonable
I'll add each to the assignments in an order that is appropriate
About the infinite worlds, if it isn't possible or causes a ton of lag, I think that you would agree that it isn't necessary.

Yeah, it just depends how efficient it is, and if Nickydroids still has the code. Otherwise, the current world size is fine.

Important Update:
I just looked through the source code of the latest version of Stranded.
Considering the way Stranded is headed i would suggest the following changes to make the game better to develop.
  1. ALL effect blocks besides brightness and ghost should be REMOVED since they cause major performance drops based on they way the flash player handles them.
  2. Every change should be well documented inside the code.
  3. I will do some compression but there will be scripts that should be removed.
  4. the modable version and the vanilla game should NOT be the same project but coexist so that there is less source code for the vanilla game.
The problem with the current mod API is that it is not very well organized and really confusing. It also causes most of the bad fps drops which is bad since the average pc wont be able to run the game with a decent performance.

Do you guys have any problems with the game or have anything against my point please tell me
Hmm.. Mods and API lag control, The reason it run slow is because of internet traffic. That's why Stranded for Windows works amazingly proficient

Yup, the mods section and how its internet, not processing power that makes the game faster.

Sorry, I didn't see the actual message before; only the advertisement at the bottom
I'm using Windows currently on a decent PC and Stranded still is too slow
Do you think you could do some script optimization with the mod API?
Frankly I think that something like that should be added much later since the game concept itself isn't near finished yet.
If you can get it working significantly faster, it would be quite progressive and more acceptable.

  4. the modable version and the vanilla game should NOT be the same project but coexist so that there is less source code for the vanilla game.

Does this have anything to do with Stranded?
Yup, the mods section and how its internet, not processing power that makes the game faster.

Sorry, I didn't see the actual message before; only the advertisement at the bottom
I'm using Windows currently on a decent PC and Stranded still is too slow
Do you think you could do some script optimization with the mod API?
Frankly I think that something like that should be added much later since the game concept itself isn't near finished yet.
If you can get it working significantly faster, it would be quite progressive and more acceptable.
In-Game procceser dose the trick already

I only come here every now and then
