Updating Translation System & "Meow" & "Edible" Languages

Hey everyone,

In the coming days, the Scratch website will begin running on a new translation system. It's our hope this new setup will make it easier for folks to contribute their own translations. (More on this soon!) So this is very exciting news!

We earlier reported this would involve removing Edible & Meow languages. However, we figured out a way to keep them, so those two languages will remain on Scratch!

I suppose if the new ones are as funny, if not funnier than Meow and Edible Scratch, then that will be fine. Still sad to see those go though. Off-topic = 1st reply!

If you would still be able to add silly languages, why would you have to remove Meow and Edible Scratch? How are custom languages unsupported if you could still add more? I still use Meow from time to time and find it fun to transform scratch into a kitten meme.

He did say “easter eggs”, so that doesn't necessarily mean new silly languages. At least that's how I interpreted it.

I will miss edible scratch and meow but if it is for a good cause okay

Maybe you can move the two languages somewhere else - so that people don't find them as easy and dont get them confused, but people who look for them can find them.

Agreed. I'm still sad to see Meow and Edible Scratch go though.

I've never used edible scratch, and until this was posted, I never knew how to use it. I won't be missing it.

Sounds cool! I only really used the joke languages on April Fools day, so I'm not going to really miss them that much…

Edit 1 (2/23/2017): 15th reply! Does anyone care? No? Okay… :P

Edit 2 (2/23/2017): It looks like the change hasn't taken effect yet as I still see Meow and Edible Scratch in the languages tab-

So I guess anyone who hasn't tried them yet should try them before they go away!

Edit 3 (3/2/2017): Oh wait, it looks like they're keeping the languages.
