No, I don't think it has anything with the variable names. It's the way in which I've coded the scrolling background.

I'm starting to feel like this project is a lost cause. Game creation is a programmers world, which * me off. I'm starting to think that the only people that could make this possible are people like griffpatch, and I don't know if even he would put in that kind of effort.

Try looking from a new angle. Sometimes you might just be surprised at what you can do.
Also, I composed a theme for a snowy area with handbells and a piano.

I'm going to be honest you guys. I'm probably not going to develop this any further. I'm in the process of transitioning from scratch to gamemaker studio, and I'm less and less active on scratch.

I'm not going to be on here much longer, because I'm going to have another semester of college, then I'm going to be gone for two years while I serve a mission for my church.

Once I'm ready, I will formally announce my departure from the site, and I will outline details of what I wanted this game to be, including its story which I kept secret.

This is nothing to do with any of you guys, the fact is, I just need to move on. I'm in college for heavens sake. I really appreciate all the hard work you guys gave me, and I hope that after I leave one of you will take the reins and make scratch's first real Zelda game.

Zelda game cancelled because I'm leaving scratch...

Well, the day has finally come. I'm leaving scratch. I know many of you will be disappointed that I'm leaving, and if you are interested why, go to this project:

https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/134715567/

For those of you who are concerned about this project, I hope that someone will see the potential in this game and will develop it further. In the hopes that someone will continue this game, I hereby give you the outline of the story I wanted for this game.

The game takes place after the events of the Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. During the game, I hypothesize that we never saw Link's family because he was training to be an engineer, and so lived away from them for sometime.

The game begins with Link having returned home to his family (I had not decided where on Spirit Tracks map Link's family would live). After Spirit Tracks, Link has become good friends with princess Zelda, and now serves as her personal train driver, and on occasion body guard.

With all that exposition out of the way, the game starts with Link waking up in his family's house. Zelda has come saying that there's something strange going on in a goron mine to the northwest, and she needs Link to take her there on his train, and she needs him for protection should there be anything dangerous. Unfortunately, Link's train is currently being repaired, and he can't take her there.

Zelda remembers that there is shortcut they can take to get there. This area would serve as a place for the player to learn simple Zelda game mechanics and interact with their first enemies as they travel towards the goron mine.

When they go inside the mine, they find a group of gorons gathered around a goron digging into the rock. After a moment, a strange object is revealed.

A dark, unnatural triangle.

Suddenly, a mysterious figure enters the mine, and everyone turns around to face them. (insert villains name here) does an evil monologue, and engages in a short fight with Link as the villain attempts to get the strange object.

Link ultimately fails however, and the villain gets their prize.

Link and Zelda make their way to Hyrule Castle and consult some sort of scholar to attempt to find any information on the strange object unearthed in the goron mines.

The object is the fourth triforce. The triforce of shadow. When all three pieces of the triforce are assembled, the user gets one wish. When the fourth, dark, hidden triforce is placed inside the rest of the triforce, then it gives the user ultimate power over space and time.

The Goddesses fought some sort of primeval evil even greater than Ganon in order to create Hyrule, and they had to split his soul into the dark triforce, and a certain mask…

In their research, Link and Zelda find out someway to destroy the dark triforce. This of course involves collecting the pieces to make something like a weapon, or something. There would probably be 3 dungeons that you go through to find these pieces.

At the end of the game, you go through a dungeon to get something that will help you find the villain of the story.

After this dungeon, the player will go through one final dungeon, ultimately defeating the villain end ending the game. After the initial boss battle with the villain, there would probably be another one with the dark triforce.

During the entire game, if possible, I would have wanted Zelda to follow you around and assist in puzzles. I would have even wanted her to be a playable character, that you could switch back and forth to, depending on what you needed to do, and what character you prefer playing as.

I know that is a lot of ambitious work. I have given all of you a story and some ideas for gameplay. If you know Zelda, you know what this game should be. I know there are people on scratch who could make this. Show me what you all can do.

This is awesome-astronaut, signing off.

Zelda game cancelled because I'm leaving scratch...

Don't be too dissapointed I'm leaving you guys. I've come up with a lot of great ideas while using scratch, may of which I couldn't execute because of both my lack of talent in the programming area, and the limits of scratch.

I just started using gamemaker, and what in scratch took me years to learn (make a platformer) took only about 30 lines of code!

As I get older, I'm going to try to get into the game industry, and then I'll be able to take my ideas to the next level.

Since I'm nice, I'll share a bit of my big, secret game idea with you guys as my last message.

In my first year of high school, me and my friends made games for our Ti-83 and 84 calculators. I made a text based adventure game on mine that started as a simple maze, but as I spent a year on and off working on it, gradually a story emerged.

I decided I wanted to make a big 3d game.

When I have the resources to make this game someday, I will. What this game will be is a high fantasy, action adventure game, reminiscent of Legend of Zelda. In this I will try to elevate storytelling in games to something that hasn't been seen before. In games with stories, usually they tell, rather than show, and divide the game into cutscenes. I want to make the game and the story be one. I want to adress complex themes in this game that haven't ever been explored. One of these is religion. Very few games deal with religion, and often when they do it is just some symbolism in a character name or the like. I want to seriously investigate religion and the characters' interaction with it through the gameplay, and do it in a way that puts religion in a better light than many games do these days.

I want to have the game be centered around controlling two protagonists, a boy and a girl (this way you can play as your gender, while your character will still be connected to the story better, unlike Skyrim). This also opens up the opportunity of multiplayer (would be similar to the Lego video games and their multiplayer mechanics).

The game would have no inventory, with every item being a physical, in-game object.

I want to have a large world (but not too big) set in a kingdom called Enrion. Unlike many open-world games, I don't want to have a lot of wasted space in the game world.

The game's story would actually have an arc running over three games, not just one, similar to many books and film series. Why few games have done something of this nature I am unsure.

Those of you who have read all of this may find this to be a bit ambitious for someone who isn't even out of college, yet is saying they want to make the kind of game that only large companies with game teams of hundreds can accomplish. I don't know what the future holds, but somehow I will do it. It may take me ten, twenty, or thirty years but someday I will see the land of Enrion exist. I don't know how I'll do it, but I will never stop trying.

Why? Because I look at what games are today. I see rampant violence in games like Hatred. I see games designed to addict like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans. Games have so much more potential. Even Nintendo, the game company I love the most, falls short in this aspect.

Unlike books, music, movies, and traditional art, video games are interactive. They literally are a way of experiencing a world. You are not reading or watching a story, you are living in it. This has so much opportunity for artistic expression, but few games take that chance, living in complacency, letting their games only be entertainment. Some make game stories so bland, predictable, and linear, that the story serves no purpose. Some games have stories so non-linear that player controls too much, and learns nothing from the experience.

I want to show in games that in real life, you do not have total control, so you shouldn't have it in a game either. Sometimes we are forced to do things we don't like, and too many games do things for you, or hold your hand to much these days.

I want to make games because I know they can make us better people. They're a safe environment where we can make mistakes, and learn about ourselves. With them we can form strong bonds with friends and family.

Many people don't realize that. They see games like Call of Duty and Clash of Clans and only see the scum of the digital age. I want to prove them wrong. I want to live in a world where video games are universally seen as art, where other creative people will want to follow me and make things even more incredible.

The game world has not yet had its Star Wars, Harry Potter, or any of the like. I want to be the first to lead the charge, and I can only do that by breaking the status quo, and * a bunch of people off. People will tell me “you shouldn't put religion in games, it's too preachy”, or “gamers don't want long, complex stories”, or even “You are trying to make a non-violent fantasy game? That isn't possible.” I'm not afraid of the people who will scoff at what I want to do. People mocked Walt Disney for wanting to make a park for the whole family, and now Disney owns the biggest theme parks on the planet.

I know I've droned on to long, but don't forget about what I've said here. Maybe, in ten or twenty years, you may see a game with Enrion in the title, made by a lesser known game developer named Curtis Chandler. Heck, someday I could have some vetrans of scratch working for me…

Well, I guess this is my huge goodbye letter to scratch. Time to look forward, and prepare for what awaits me tomorrow.

Farewell to you, from Appadeia.
P.S. I'm planning to leave scratch or at least go inactive for a long time very soon.
For about the same reason as you. I'll be tracking tons of digital gaming websites for 20 years into the future, until I see that game of yours.
(This P.S. is getting long) Gaming is an art. It might have to go the same path comics did (the graphic novel is really a rose by a different name)
In the U.S. the supreme court ruled they're art, so we're getting there. A point of advice: Try finding a new or unconquered market, instead of trying to compete with C.O.D. or other games. COD will always be better at being COD than any other game. Same goes for Mario. And pretty much every single series out there.

I have been frequently viewing Extra Credits, thank you. I have also oft compared video games to comics. I'm starting to see video games get into popular culture more than they used to. I mean, Nintendo is building a theme park! With your comment about competing with COD, I'm not. I realize now that I can't get those kinds of gamers. I will have to bring people into gamers that have never gamed before. The group I'm thinking of is people who are die-hard fans of reading fantasy. I will give them a fantasy novel brought to life.

Man, I'm really bad at signing off, aren't I? If you have any questions in particular about my Enrion project, feel free to ask.
