I know I'm part of this shop, but even people who are good at computers have tech questions, so:

In Devices and Printers on Windows 7, everything is normal. However, the icon for my USB Receiver is not.
The text underneath the icon is normal (it says USB Receiver), however the actual icon is a picture of a keyboard instead of a USB Receiver. When I click on the icon, Windows says that the device category is “Keyboard and Mouse”. Note that the USB Receiver does still work.
This doesn't bother me, I just found it strange. Why is this happening and how can I fix this?

(And by the way, this happened since I first got this PC.)
Did anybody figure out why this is happening yet?

Nope, I'm completely stumped

At least the USB receiver still works. I just found it strange. A USB receiver has nothing to do with a keyboard.

Oh, and by the way, forgot to mention this before: I do have a keyboard and mouse connected to the USB receiver. Still, it should show up as a USB receiver, since that's what it is.

Yeah, exactly, Windows thinks the USB reciever is the keyboard and mouse, how can I fix this? Or is this just one of the things Windows does?

Try uninstalling the device driver and plug in the cord again. if it still doesn't contact the printers manufactor or Microsoft.
Hi there,
This doesn't have anything to do with a printer. It is something to do with my USB Receiver. My printer isn't even plugged in.
Contact the USB Receivers Manufactor.

Do you know any fix? I remember there was a tool which would allow you to change the icon and category of devices, but I never used it, and don't know if it still works.

So it's something to do with Windows, I guess I'll try to fix it myself.

It's not a glitch, rather it's meant.

I know it's meant to be like that, it just isn't right. There was a way to change icons and categories of devices but it doesn't work now.

After doing some research, I found some webpages that may help:

http://zentimo.com/help/ht_changeNameOrImage.htm
http://superuser.com/questions/111036/how-to-change-the-printer-icon-displayed-in-the-control-panel
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/224162-devices-printers-change-device-icons-custom-icons.html
The 1st link seems to be for some obscure device manager which I don't feel like using since Devices and Printers/Device Stage is much better.
The 2nd link seems to be for printer only and I don't feel like looking around in the registry.
The 3rd link was that program I was talking about that let you edit device info, it doesn't work any more.

Anyway, I don't really care anymore, as the reciever still works. Thanks anyway though.

This shop hasn't seen any new replies recently. I'll bump this as I think this shop has potential. Is the creator of this shop still active?
