I don't post much on this site anymore, but I do come to forums on here or Newgrounds when I have a question.

Anyway, I'm a Senior in high school and I have to write an Analysis Essay on the Theme of either Macbeth or Wuthering Heights (or “The novel you read” as the instructions say.) But I don't know exactly what I would say. This is for AP English and my teacher can be a harsh critic when it comes to writing assignments such as this one.

Which one should I do? I'm not sure which one would be easier to write about. We actually talked about Macbeth in class and the themes of manliness, guilt, betrayal, etc, and we're given a few ideas of that. But we did not discuss Wuthering Heights because we had to choose from that or Mansfield Park. The themes for Wuthering that I found are love, feud, betrayal, and such.

The questions for Macbeth are such that “What does the character or conflict in Macbeth say about the nature of mankind?” That's the first question. So I might just end up doing Macbeth.

Anyone?

What I'd do is pick a theme, pick a few examples from the book that show the theme, and then explain how they do so each in their own paragraph.

Do you have to answer the questions in the essay itself or separately?

The questions are ideas that we can use. Examples, but not required to write the essay
