How do I do smooth lines in GIMP?

I use GIMP for art and stuff, but the lines just keep being pixelized and stuff. I want to do those smooth lines I see on those Sonic fanart.

Please do not tell me to use Paint Art SAI.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by “smooth.” If you mean “smooth” as in “no sharp corners,” try playing around with the “smooth stroke” settings under the tool options. If you mean “anti-aliased,” I'm not entirely sure what the problem might be - but I couldn't get GIMP to draw anti-aliased until I learned that I needed to stop using the Pencil tool, which does not do anti-aliasing.

In my experience, though, GIMP isn't very great for art - I would recommend using Krita.

Personally, I haven't used GIMP very much, but when I was using GIMP, I used this tutorial. (It may have been another tutorial.)

Please don't report me guys for the gibberish filename this image received from cubeupload. It wasn't intentional.

Better be using GIMP, I'm so used to it.

It's probably because Gimp is a bitmap drawing program.

Make pictures with a higher resolution, or use a vector graphics program like Inkscape

No.
Then I'm not really sure what you mean by “smooth lines”. You already seem to be using the paintbrush tool.
