However, I know there are a few really old accounts laying around from 8 years ago or so. I'd estimate it's been about 8.5ish years since the first release.

Here's a quick timeline (i don't know what else to call it :p) I made:
Earliest known archive of the website: September 2nd, 2006
Scratch 1.0: January 8th, 2007 - May 2007
Scratch 1.1: May 2007 - December 2, 2007
Scratch 1.2: December 2, 2007 - September 2nd, 2008
Scratch 1.3: September 2nd, 2008 - July 2nd, 2009
Scratch 1.4: July 2nd, 2009 - May 9th, 2013
Scratch 2.0: May 9th, 2013 - Today
Scratch 3.0: ???? - ???? (an alpha version is planned for late 2017)

Correction: Scratch 1.4 lasted until May 6th. The site was taken down for 3 days to perform an upgrade to the new site.

Thanks for this timeline, all I knew was that I'd found it in 2011 at the 1.4 stage. I didn't know it was this old!

Also, Scratch was realised 10 years ago, not 7.
