If you want to stick with SFML than i would say its definetely worth checking out Microsoft's Visual Studio 2012. It's a nice IDE and it is what i use to make SFML games. It offers C++, C#, F#, HTML, CSS, and Javascript support. It keeps all your files and libraries organized and has a built in compiler. If you follow the steps on the SFML website you should be able to statically link the libraries and start making games with Visual Studio easily.
The 2012 and 2013 downloads for visual studio can be found Here
Take note that visual studio is quite a big program and might take a while to set up.

Thanks, I think I'll wait until the end of the month (download) to try it out. But then finally all the costumes I've been making could go towards something. Which reminds me. Can you use animated gifs like sprites in scratch in that they have multiple costumes which you can switch between?

HereAlso, if you don't like the Window 8/Metro style you should stick with VS 2012. 2013 has two colour schemes - light and dark. Light may hurt your eyes and dark may be too dark. If you like the design, but just not the colours you could try The 2012 and 2013 downloads for visual studio can be found this.

Would I be able to do things like zoom, transparancy and other graphic effects to images while the program is happening. Also are thre the equivalent of the change x by () commands or are the pictures just printed, wiped and manually printed somewhere else. What I mean is can you manipulate the pictures, via commands, or is it much more manual.

Shouldn't this be moved? I thought this board was specifically for Scratch.

No, not really. There are lots of topics on other languages in AT because it's where the people who are at that sort of level go most. Also, what is all this about registering to get a full version (rather than a trial) of visual express. And what about this? It appears to be all three (IDE, compiler, graphics) in one.

Oh, OK. About the trial, you can only use this program for a limited amount of time, which I think is weird, since visual studio has far more features, and is free. No, not really. You have to register the Express version of Visual Studio with a Microsoft account. It doesn't cost anything but you will have to complete a form that asks what you will use it for and stuff. Then it will give you a product key and send it to your email in case you need it again.
