How do you set the min. and max. for the slider variable?

It should say so when you right-click on the slider variable in the project editor.

On a trackpad, click with two fingers to right click like you would with a mouse — I would recommend using your middle and ring finger. It can take a little practice, but after a while it'll be easy.
