Make the display widescreen (1920x1080)
These days, widescreen displays are commonplace, so we should essentially have widescreen Scratch windows. Anyone agree?

A good point. I think there should be two options for the screen for whether you prefer it 4:3 or widescreen and upon creating a new project you can choose that.

The Screen was made 4 to 3 because it fitted the screens best, and would cause the least problems. Semi-support. Screens are not created equal. Many screens may be widescreen such as a TV, while other monitors use the 4 to 3 system…
offtopic- We are having the same problem at school…

I think we should be able to have the option to toggle between the sizes, but I don't know.

This would set the precedent that the stage's size can be optimized on a per-project basis for different monitors. Sounds fine and dandy, even if I don't see why this would be necessary, but what about devices with portrait, square, or non-standard screen sizes? You could get that to work by letting users resize a stage, with units remaining in pixels. But that could be abused if, for example, someone cranked up the height past most devices' fold. And the Scratch Team would be implementing this feature for what? A few “widescreen” projects? No support.

Maybe, but amping the whole display up to 1080 may be a bit much. The least we can do for this is get it to 480-600p.

1920 x 1080 This is an absolute must!
Scratch 2 is vector built so the projects are already resolution independent.
I rarely see a 4:3 screen these days. If you want to make a portrait project you can easily calculate for this and turn a monitor / tablet on its side! People have been doing this for years. Even powerpoint works in 16:9!

YES. I have a widescreen device (Most people do) that is my device for using Scratch. Allowing widescreen projects would be nice, and would give me more freedom to create games without cramming a UI in a tiny box…

Use Visual C++ or similar if you want widescreen, Scratch isn't going to change anytime soon

No support. This would break old projects. Also I have a 4:3 screen.

I Dont Know How To Do Wide Screen But I Do Know That If You Zoom Out All The Way On Your Web Browser, It Will Make The Scratch UI At The Top (Green Flag, Stop, And Toggle Fullscreen) Smaller And The Project Display Itself A Little Bit Bigger, But Wont Do Anything Wide Screen.

They're considering it.
considering that, though we are not 100% sure how we will deal with backwards compatibility quite yet. Stay tuned.(Emphasis mine.) We are
