Which version should I use?

Hello all. I'm very new to Scratch and am loving it.

Am I correct in thinking that there are three versions of Scratch to choose from, namely Scratch 1.4, the current online version (COV) and the offline beta version (OBV)? And am I also right in thinking that of the three, Scratch 1.4 has the most extensive printed resources?

If I am right, then I think I will stick with 1.4 for now, seeing as I am a bit old-school in the way I like to learn stuff.

If I'm wrong, please point me in the direction of a comprehensive printed guide (can be a PDF or e-book of course) to the newer version(s).

Or, if you would like to point out how I'm looking at it all the wrong way then by all means, have at it.

Cheers.

I would recommend using the online 2.0. It's true that there are more printed materials about 1.4, but nearly everything about 1.4, except for some user-interface, is in 2.0.

There is also a 2.0 getting started PDF, and also “Scratch Cards”.
